The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts Announces Surplus

By:

The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) announced a $3,000 surplus at its Annual General Meeting this week. "This is a great achievement for the Alliance," says Michael Rubinoff, the newly elected President to the Board of Directors at TAPA. "The surplus will help to move the organization forward to achieving financial stability in order to continually provide meaningful, quality services to our members."

It was also reported that TAPA's programs and services are continuing to grow. Sales at T.O. TIX, Toronto's One-Stop Ticket Shop, increased by 5% and returned over $420,000 to participating organizations.

The TAPA Stats Report Phase III http://www.tapa.ca/communique/publications released last week was also highlighted at the AGM. Providing up-to-date statistical information on the theatre, dance and opera industry in Toronto, the TAPA Stats Report Phase III helps TAPA members to build corporate and philanthropic support, and to attract new partners and build new connections. "The Report also serves as an invaluable tool to help identify our strengths and weaknesses, and consider ways in which we might move forward", says Jacoba Knaapen, Executive Director.

Other key announcements at the AGM included:

Renewed support for TRIP – the Travel Retreat Initiatives program. Porter Airlines, Cultureone, and the Valleyview Artist Retreat are renewing their commitment to sponsor TRIP for 2012-13.

A new partnership with STAF – the Small Theatre Administrative Facility – enables TAPA members to access a comprehensive Media List at no cost.
