Yesterday, Jan. 4, high-flying theater spectacle SPIDER:MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK took its final flight, with Billy Crystal's 700 SUNDAYS, the revival of ANNIE, BETRAYAL with Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz, and FIRST DATE with Zachary Levi and Krysta Rodriguez following suit today, Jan. 5.

SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK, the Broadway spectacular that defied odds and expectations to conquer New York, played its final performance at the Foxwoods Theatre yesterday, Jan. 4, 2014, after being seen by approximately two million fans, and 1,268 performances. Since it began previews on November 28, 2010, and even before they bagan, the show's high and lows were in the news, making it one of the most talked about shows in theater history. Manhattan Concert Productions has just announced the full cast for the second installment of its Broadway Series, with a concert performance of, Titanic The Musical. This concert performance will feature almost all of the cast members from the original Tony Award winning Broadway production.

Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters will host the 15th annual BROADWAY BARKS!, a star-studded dog and cat adoption event benefiting New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies. Produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, sponsored by the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and additional sponsorship by the New York Times, BARKS will take place on Saturday, July 13 in Shubert Alley, the heart of the Broadway Theater District (located between 44th and 45thStreets, between Broadway and Eighth Avenues). The festivities begin at 3:30 p.m.; celebrity presentations of pets from animal shelters citywide will take place between 5-6:30 p.m. This year, BARKS will open the show with a performance from the Jersey Boysfollowed by the Broadway debut of many adoptable animals presented by many stars from this season's 'hottest' shows. In addition, Peters will be in Shubert Alley with famed illustrator/ author, Hilary Knight, the designer of this year's BARKS poster and Playbill cover. The signing is from 12 noon - 2:00p.m. All proceeds benefit Broadway Barks!

On this morning's GOOD DAY NEW YORK on FOX, Peters introduced to TV hosts Greg Kelly and Rosanna Scotto some of the dogs that will be up for adoption at this year's BROADWAY BARKS.

Just yesterday, the cast of SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark, including Reeve Carney, Robert Cuccioli, Rebecca Faulkenberry, and Christina DeCicco celebrated the show's 1,000 performance on Broadway with special surprise guests. For the exciting event, creators Bono and the Edge visited to Foxwoods Theatre for the milestone performance, and BroadwayWorld was there to capture the whole thing. Check out full coverage below!

SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark is now in its 2nd smash year on Broadway, and has been seen by more than 1 million audience members from around the world. It features music and lyrics by 22-time Grammy® Award-winners Bono and The Edge, direction by Philip William McKinley (The Boy From Oz), and a book co-written by Julie Taymor, Glen Berger(Underneath The Lintel) and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Fantastic Four and Spider-Man comics, "Big Love"). Broadway star Robert Cuccioli, best known for his Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle winning and Tony-nominated performance as the star of Jekyll and Hyde, takes on another dual role in his long-anticipated return to Broadway: Norman Osborn / The Green Goblin in Broadway's SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark. Cuccioli just played his first performance last night, August 7, 2012 at the Foxwoods Theatre, and BroadwayWorld was there for all of the festivities. SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark began preview performances on November 28, 2010, and has become one of the most famous theatrical events in Broadway history. SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark has been seen since by more than 600,000 audience members from around the world. A frequent attraction for the A-list, Australian actress Poppy Montgomery recently stopped by the show and BroadwayWorld was there to catch a photo of her with the cast!
