On Friday, November 18, 2022, composer and guitarist David Leisner releases his new album, Letter to the World, on Azica Records. Featuring four song cycles - Confiding, Das Wunderbare Wesen, Simple Songs, and Of Darkness and Light - Letter to the World includes four vocal compositions from different stages of Leisner's career: two from the 1980's, one from 2002, and one from 2011.

The Town Hall continues its 2022/23 concert series spotlighting women composers who have shaped American culture with the New York premiere of composer Laura Kaminsky and librettist Kimberly Reed's searing new chamber opera Hometown to the World on Saturday, November 5 (8 pm).

MasterVoices begins its 2022-23 season on October 25 at the Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center with Ted Sperling leading a staged performance of Bizet’s Carmen in its original Opéra Comique version, with dialogue rather than recitative, sung in an English translation by legendary Broadway lyricist Sheldon Harnick.

The two-CD length album seeks to highlight diverse LGBTQIA+ voices and perspectives, through revelatory performances of important songs by some of today’s leading composers, including the world premiere recording of Ben Moore’s Love Remained in a new version for tenor, and the commissioned title work, No Choice but Love.

The Town Hall has announced details on a series of concerts spotlighting four esteemed women composers who have shaped American culture over the decades: the “Mother of Contemporary Gospel music,” Dr. Elbernita “Twinkie” Clark; legendary singer-songwriter Judy Collins; acclaimed opera composer Laura Kaminsky; and trailblazing composer/singer Meredith Monk.

The all-star voice cast features Daniel Dae Kim (Lost, Hawaii Five-O) as David, Katie Chang (The Bling Ring) as Maddie, Paul Dano (Escape at Dannemora) as Caspian, Rosemarie DeWitt (Little Fires Everywhere) as Ellen, Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight) as Cary, Anika Noni Rose, Maude Apatow, Krystina Alabado, and more. In celebration of its 10th Anniversary, Ferocious Lotus Theatre Company presents EVOLUTION, a festival of six original short plays exploring what it means to be Asian/Asian-American (initially slated to premiere in 2020). Susie Mosher always keeps the talent on the stage classy but this week there was a plethora of piano players to liven things up.

“An Evening at the Theater,” the first single from The Pleasing Recollection – a playful and witty musical adventure that blends opera and cabaret – has been released in all digital and streaming platforms today, Friday, March 4. The Pleasing Recollection will make its New York debut at Feinstein’s/54 Below for two shows only on Tuesday, April 5 at 7:00 PM and Wednesday, April 6 at 9:30 PM. The Pleasing Recollection features music by Martin Hennessy and a libretto by Stephen Kitsakos.
