Comedy Of Errors, Museum & Carousel et al Set for Villanova Theatre 2011-12 Season

Villanova Theatre is thrilled to announce that David Cregan, O.S.A., Ph.D. has been named Chair of the Theatre Department of Villanova University. Himself an alumnus of Villanova (BA '89), Fr. David is an associate professor of Theatre, and also teaches for the English Department. Before entering the Augustinian Order, Cregan spent four years in New York City working as a professional actor. He earned his Ph.D. in Drama Studies from the Samuel Beckett School of Drama at Trinity College in Dublin; his M.A. in Irish Studies from the Catholic University of America; his M.Phil in Irish Theatre and Film from Trinity; and his M.Div. from the Washington Theological Union. According to Cregan, his scholarly and artistic journey began here at Villanova, on the same campus where he currently teaches, directs, and celebrates Mass.

Sarah Drew, Calista Flockhart, et al. Set for L.A. Theatre Works’ 'The Play’s The Thing' Series

Sarah Drew, Calista Flockhart, Stacy Keach, Amy Madigan, Jean Smart, Matthew Rhys, Joanne Whalley and JoBeth Williams are among the stars set to record 10 plays as part of L.A. Theatre Works' 2011-12 season. Beginning this September, L.A. Theatre Works' acclaimed 'The Play's The Thing' radio theater series moves to the James Bridges Theater on the campus of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. There, each performance will be recorded in front of a live audience for future radio broadcast.

'What Are You Doing Here?' Debuts June 4

An actress whose professional demeanor is upended at the absolute worst possible moment because her ex-boyfriend is sitting in the audience in What Are You Doing Here?, Maria Alexandria Beech's painfully funny tale of colliding lives, broken hearts and the ultimate symbiotic relationship. Starring Maggie Surovell & Kelley Jackson Garcia and directed by Michelle Bossy, What Are You Doing Here? will begin performances on June 4th at the Gene Frankel Theatre, located at 24 Bond Street as part of the 2011 Planet Connections Theatre Festivity.

FST Ends 2010/2011 Season With GHOST WRITER, 5/29

Florida Studio Theatre will close its 2010/11 season with Michael Hollinger's intelligent new play, Ghost-Writer. Ghost-Writer is apart of FST's 20th annual SARASOTA FESTIVAL OF NEW PLAYS. This production also marks the second Hollinger production at FST, after the critically-acclaimed production of Opus during the 2008/09 season. Ghost-Writer closes on the Keating Theatre stage on May 29.

Park Square Theatre Presents OPUS And PANIC, 5/6-5/29 And 6/10-7/10

Park Square Theatre will wrap up its 2010/2011 season with two premiere plays. First will be Michael Hollinger's OPUS, presented from May 6-29 with opening night on May 13, followed by Joseph Goodrich Area's Edgar Award winning PANIC, presented from June 10 - July 10 with opening night on June 17. Both shows promise to thrill audiences and to end Park Square's year with a bang.

Park Square Theatre Announces Campaign News & Attendance Record

Today, Artistic Director Richard Cook announced $600,000 in new gifts to Park Square Theatre's $4.2 million Next Stage Campaign, including $350,000 from The St. Paul Foundation, $200,000 from the F. R. Bigelow Foundation and $50,000 in new gifts from individuals.
