Rehearsals have begun for the West End production of Waitress, starring Katharine McPhee.

Full casting information for the West End premiere of Sara Bareilles' Waitress has been released today, featuring Shaun Prendergast as Old Joe.

Communication breakdown is at the heart of the Welsh premiere of Jason Robert Brown's musical The Last Five Years in a new concept by Leeway Productions using sign language as well as sung English. The story of a powerful love affair will be performed simultaneously through song and movement with West End musical theatre performers and Deaf dancers. Supported by Wales Millennium Centre and in partnership with Blackwood Miners, it will open the Performances for the Curious season at the Centre on 9 November, before touring to Aberystwyth, Caernarfon, Blackwood, Llanelli and Merthyr Tydfil.

EastEnders' Rita Simon, Lucie Jones, who represented the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest with 'Never Give Up On You', and Bill Ward, star of Coronation Street and Emmerdale star in a major new tour of the smash-hit Broadway and West End musical Legally Blonde The Musical. The From Page to Stage season of new musical theatre has announced the casting for its three semi-staged readings: Whatsonstage Award nominee Beverley Klein (Platonov, Ivanov, National Theatre; Candide; ENO), Ian Reddington (EastEnders; Coronation Street), Gerard McCarthy (Beautiful Thing; Hollyoaks), Jodie Jacobs (Rock of Ages, Shafetsbury Theatre; Legally Blonde, Kilworth House) and Union J's Jaymi Hensley are all taking part in the season at Tristan Bates Theatre this autumn.

We took a trip back to Planet Seventies at the New Alexandra Theatre as Jackie the Musical swept into town. Based on the book by Mike James, Jackie the Musical follows a forty-something divorcee as she stumbles across her old collection of Jackie magazines and once more seeks their advice about fashion, boys and love.

Written by Mike James, with choreography by Arlene Phillips and directed by Anna Linstrum, JACKIE THE MUSICAL will begin a nationwide tour in Spring 2016 at the Gardyne Theatre in Dundee.  Launching in Dundee, the spiritual home of Jackie magazine and location of the first editorial offices, the tour of JACKIE THE MUSICAL is supported by Jackie publishers DC Thomson.   Former magazine Editor Nina Myskow joins the production as Editor-in-Chief and consultant, and heads up a brand new digital/online TV channel JACKIE TV.
