NOISES OFF, English playwright Michael Frayn's 1982 farce, had its start as a one-act play called Exits, written in 1977. The title comes from the theatrical stage direction used to indicate when a sound comes from offstage. The three act comedy is three looks at the first act of a British sex farce called 'Nothing On'. 'Nothing On' is your run of the mill sex farce where young girls run around in their underwear, old men drop their pants and a multitude of doors are constantly opening and closing. Act One is the less than perfect final technical rehearsal of the play. Act Two takes place backstage, during a matinee performance a month later, showing the audience the complete chaos that has erupted behind the scenes and is mostly done in silence. Act Three is the final performance of the tour where everything that can possibly go wrong does. The audience never sees the rest of 'Nothing On'.

A Noise Within (ANW) presents A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry, directed by Gregg T. Daniel, the sixth production of its 26th season performing February 25 to April 8 (Press Opening March 3).

City Theatre Austin is excited to continue its 2018 season with Michael Frayn's madcap stage show Noises Off, hailed by critics as the funniest farce ever written. Directed by guest director Kevin J. Smith, the production runs February 16 thru March 11.

A Noise Within (ANW), the acclaimed classical repertory theatre company, presents its first production of Shakespeare's history play Henry V, co-directed by Artistic Directors Julia Rodriguez-Elliott and Geoff Elliott. ANW streamlines the story into a dynamic thrill ride infused with modern relevance.

Lantern Theater Company announced today that its production of Copenhagen by Michael Frayn has been extended to meet extraordinary audience demand and will now close on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018. The following extension week performances have been added:

Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) presents the hysterical farce, Noises Off, at THE BLACK BOX, FPAC's home and performance venue located at 15 West Central Street in downtown Franklin. Directed by Nick Paone, the comedy hit runs this weekend only, with performances on Friday, January 19 and Saturday, January 20 at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, January 21 at 2 p.m.

Lantern Theater Company continues its 24th season with Michael Frayn's award-winning play Copenhagen. Considered the greatest play ever written about science and winner of two Tony Awards including Best Play, Frayn's riveting drama puts us in the heart of the greatest moral dilemma of the 20th century. Kittson O'Neill will make her Lantern directorial debut, working with cast members Charles McMahon, Sally Mercer, and Paul L. Nolan. Simon Jones (The Real Thing, Benefactors), will join the cast of the Shakespeare's Globe production of FARINELLI AND THE KING on Tuesday, January 9, playing the role of opera impresario John Rich. Colin Hurley, who was scheduled for a limited run in the role, will play his final performance as John Rich on Sunday, January 7.

Pacific Coast Repertory Theatre presents the Tony Award winning play Noises Off by Michael Frayn. Michael Frayn's Noises Off takes a fond look at the follies of theatre folk, whose susceptibility to out-of-control egos, memory loss, and passionate affairs turn every performance into a high-risk adventure. This play-within-a-play captures a touring theatre troupe's production of Nothing On in three stages: dress rehearsal, the opening performance, and a performance towards the end of a debilitating run. Frayne gives us a window into the inner workings of theatre behind the scenes, progressing from flubbed lines and missed cues in the dress rehearsal to mounting friction between cast members in the final performance. Brimming with slapstick comedy, Noises Off is a delightful backstage farce, complete with slamming doors, falling trousers, and of course flying sardines!
