New York City Opera presents a family-friendly version of The Barber of Seville at the Theater at St. Jean’s, 150 E. 76th Street, NYC on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at 10am & 2pm. Gioachino Rossini’s sparkling music animates the hijinks of Figaro, opera’s most famous barber. Tickets start at $5 and are available at newyorkcityopera.yapsody.com/event/index/725815/il-barbiere-di-siviglia. The performance is 75 minutes, sung in Italian, and is appropriate for all ages.

Ricky Ian Gordon and Michael Korie, in their new opera for New York City Opera and National Yiddish Theatre-Folksbiene, weren’t the only ones to be inspired by the famed 1962 novel THE GARDEN OF THE FINZI-CONTINIS (IL GIARDINO DEI FINZI CONTINI) by Italian Giorgio Bassani. The film version, by Vittorio De Sica, won the Best Foreign Film Oscar in 1970, running half the time of the opera. Still, it is the novel that excited them all.

Bryant Park Picnic Performances' season of free, live performances will continue on Friday, July 2 at 7pm with a fully-staged, one-hour abridged performance of Georges Bizet's beloved opera, Carmen, from the New York City Opera. This will be New York City Opera's first fully staged, hour-long adaptation performed this year.
