Two Utah high school performers are on their way to New York City after winning the award for Best Actress and Best Actor in a musical during the thirteenth annual Utah High School Musical Theatre Awards held in the Eccles Theater in Salt Lake City May 13.

Savannah Carrasco from Skyridge High School in Lehi won for her role as Aldonza in The Man of La Mancha and Hayden Henderson from Northridge High School won for his portrayal of Quasimodo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre has announced the cancellation of its 2020 season.

Abigail Edwards  from Green Canyon High School in North Logan won for her role as Belle in 'Beauty and the Beast' and Ethan Kelso from Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts won for his portrayal of Will Bloom in 'Big Fish.'

More than 600 students from 24 high schools will take the Eccles Theater Stage for the eighth annual Utah High School Musical Theatre Awards May 12. The Awards represent a musical theatre scholarship program that rewards excellence at the high school level. Ten show-stopping numbers from 10 juried musicals will showcase the Best Musical finalists from schools across the state.

The 2018 McCammon Voice Competition judges have chosen the semi-finalists for the eighteenth biennial competition, to be held on March 16, 2018 at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. The finals will be held March 17, 2018 at Bass Performance Hall. This year's competitors are David Araujo, Amanda Blue, Nicolette Book, Ryan Bradford, Rachael Braustein, Kathleen Buccleugh, Chelsea Coyne, Danielle Davis, Peter Scott Drackley, Helen Huang, Hao Hu, Emily Michiko Jensen, Abigail Kempson, Chonghwa Kim, Abigail Levis, Brandon Morales, Elizabeth Moran, Langelihle Mngxati, Chong Yoon Noh, Brittany Nickell, Yulan Piao, Anthony Reed, Michael St. Peter and Andrew Wannigman.

On February 4 at 8 p.m., the Bay Area's Classical KDFC will broadcast a 1980 San Francisco Opera performance of Richard Strauss' romantic opera Arabella starring soprano Kiri Te Kanawa in the title role, soprano Barbara Daniels as Zdenka, tenorWilliam Lewis as Matteo and baritone Ingvar Wixell as Mandryka, with German conductor Wolfgang Rennert. This performance from the Company's archives will be hosted by KDFC radio announcer Dianne Nicolini.

Broadway meets Utah on May 13, 2017 when more than 250 performers from 29 high school productions across the state compete in the seventh annual Utah High School Musical Theatre Awards at the new George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Theater in Salt Lake City.

The stars align and come out to shine for "PREformances with Allison Charney" first evening concert of 2017, where celebrated classical musicians come to play before they appear on the world's most prestigious stages. 

The winners of the 46th annual George London Foundation Awards Competition for young American and Canadian opera singers were announced at the conclusion of the competition's final round this evening, which took place in a front of an audience at Gilder Lehrman Hall at The Morgan Library & Museum in New York City.
