59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director) is thrilled to add the NYC premiere of AFTER, written by Michael McKeever and directed by Joe Brancato, to the Winter 2018 Season. Produced by Penguin Rep Theatre and InProximity Theatre Company, AFTER begins performances on Tuesday, March 12 for a limited engagement through Sunday, April 14. Press Opening is Sunday, March 17 at 2 PM. The performance schedule is Tuesday - Friday at 7 PM; Saturday at 2 PM & 7 PM; and Sunday at 2 PM. The South Florida Silver Palm Theatre Awards, founded eleven years ago to honor theatrical excellence in South Florida, has announced that this year it will present the coveted award to 30 individuals and organizations.

Lynn University and Jan McArt, producer and director of theatre arts program development, today announced a change to the opening show of this season's Jan McArt's New Play Readings. The Diamond Girl by Tony Finstrom, originally slated for next Monday evening, is being replaced by another new play, Glory Hallelujah, Here Comes Sidney! by Jay Stuart.

Maltz Jupiter Theatre welcomes you to the 60's with their production of the musical Hairspray. Featuring music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman and a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, the musical is based on the 1988 John Waters film of the same name.

Chosen by The New York Times as one of the 10 best plays of 2015, Hir (pronounced 'here') stars Carbonell Award-winning actress Mia Matthews, and features Island City Stage veterans Daniel Capote and Larry Buzzeo. Making his South Florida debut is transgender actor Jacob Michael DeStefano. The production is being directed by Island City Stage Artistic Director Andy Rogow.

These are the plays that comprise the 2017-18 'Jan McArt's New Play Readings' series, to be presented at Boca Raton's Lynn University beginning Monday, October 30th.

Me and My Girl, a splashy musical about a British bloke who discovers he's nobility, and The Royale, a powerful play by Miami native Marco Ramirez, based on the first black boxing champion, took their respective places in South Florida theatrical history as Best Musical and Best Play on Monday, April 3rd  when the winners of the 41st annual Carbonell Awards were announced. The lavish ceremony was held at Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, and   featured performances from each show nominated for Best Musical.

An old-fashioned, splashy musical about a working-class Londoner who discovers he's nobility and a world premiere play about the consequences of bullying received the most nominations in the musical and play categories when the nominations were announced for the 41st annual Carbonell Awards, which honors excellence in theater in South Florida.

The audience were barefooted when they stood for their standing O at the Arsht's Carnival theatre opening night. Why? They'd just had their socks knocked off by Zoetic Stage's production of After, Michael McKeever's world premiere.

You know that the grass is always greener, that the jealousy dragon has bright green eyes, that you can't go home again, that your generation is the only one that got it right, don't you? Of course you do.

Can you hear the people sing? The Carbonell Awards judges did, honoring LES MISERABLES at Maltz Jupiter Theatre with 10 Carbonell nominations, the most of any musical production. Daniel's Husband at Island City Stage, a world premiere about the importance of marriage equality, garnered six nominations, the most of any play.

Votes are cast; polls are closed; and results have been tabulated! This was our biggest year yet!
