Actor and comedian Justin Long will join the cast of the New York premiere of Mara Nelson-Greenberg's DO YOU FEEL ANGER?, directed by Margot Bordelon. Performances will begin at Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street) on Wednesday, March 13 with opening night set for Sunday, March 31.
Award-winning actress Danielle Brooks, star of Netflix's blockbuster series Orange Is the New Black, has been named host of the eleventh season of the public television series AfroPoP: The Ultimate Cultural Exchange. Brooks will help guide audiences as they journey through AfroPoP's new slate of documentary and short stories on contemporary life, art and culture in the African Diaspora. Season 11 of the series, which highlights diverse issues including social justice, politics, LGBTQ identity, fashion and violence against women, premieres at 8 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, January 21, on the WORLD Channel, with a new episode airing each Monday through February 18. AfroPoP is produced by Black Public Media (BPM) and co-presented by American Public Television (APT).
The Pasadena Playhouse announces that Simon Helberg will play George Bailey in its holiday production of It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play adapted from the film by Joe Landry, and directed by Cameron Watson, for 15 performances only December 12 to 23 (Press Opening: December 13, 8 p.m.). Filmmaker Megan Griffiths announced today that she and producers Lacey Leavitt and Jennessa West will independently release her acclaimed drama Sadie. Working with creative distribution strategist Mia Bruno, the film will begin its roll-out in New York and Los Angeles on October 12th. Winner of the Gryphon Jury Award at the 2018 Giffoni Film Festival in Italy, SADIE premiered at SXSW in March and features a breakout turn by newcomer Sophia Mitri Schloss in the title role. Melanie Lynskey, John Gallagher Jr., Tony Hale, Danielle Books and Keith L. Williams co-star, and the film features a score by Pearl Jam's Mike McCready.
