10 Hairy Legs Launches Search For New Choreographic Commissions

10 Hairy Legs, the male repertory dance company, will accept and consider submissions to create new works for the company. The initiative is open to anyone seeking to work with the company. Submissions must include a maximum of 10 words to describe the choreographer's vision for the work and a link to one sample representing that artist's dance esthetic.

10HL Partners With Elizabeth Public Schools/3rd Consecutive Year

10 Hairy Legs will provide the Dance to Learn program to all second grade students at iPrep Academy and George Washington School #1 in Elizabeth, NJ in Fall 2018. The Creative Movement Residency includes 14 consecutive weekly classes during the school day taught to 100 students by 10 Hairy Legs Teaching Artist Shawn Brush. Brush works actively as a professional dancer as well as a Teaching Artist. Brush graduated Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University earning BFA's in Dance. The professional company will perform at Jerome Dunn Academy on Thursday, December ­­20 at 9:30 am with students participating in the program. The performance is free and open to the community.

Acclaimed for its adventurous short-takes format, the DANCE NOW Festival presents a diverse array of works by some of today's most exciting dance makers. The 23rd season of this lively fall festival will feature 40 emerging and established choreographers, including DANCE NOW veterans and festival newcomers. The festival emcee is TruDee (aka Deborah Lohse). The 2018 festival will take place Wednesday to Saturday, September 5-8, at 7pm, at Joe's Pub at The Public. A special encore performance will be presented on Thursday, September 27, at 7pm.

ELUSIVE BIRD Comes to Gowanus Loft

Choreographer/dancer Rebecca Stenn and photographic artist/creative director George Del Barrio began their collaboration almost 20 years ago with a series of photographs. Their work together has since grown and flourished and manifests itself now with the creation of Elusive Bird, the final portion of their trilogy of evening length performances at Gowanus Loft. Each of the three components of the trilogy utilizes projected images, dance and live music in completely distinct and radical ways. The first iteration, a solo performance called Time I Know, premiered in January 2014. Oberon's Grove writes, "Rebecca Stenn's is a truly unique choreographic 'voice' and she is a dancer of unusual power and grace…...watching her is mesmerizing and I wanted the piece to go on and on so that she could continue to cast her spell.'

10 Hairy Legs Debuts at Baryshnikov Arts Center for Sixth Consecutive New York Season

10 Hairy Legs, the all male repertory dance company, dèbuts at Baryshnikov Arts Center for its sixth consecutive New York Season for four performances June 7 -10. The program features World Premieres by Bessie Award Nominee and company member Nicholas Sciscione, and Yin Yue. Works by Al Blackstone, Raja Feather Kelly and Christopher Williams complete the program. Sciscione will perform his solo work and Ofer Pelz his original composition at all performances. Tickets are $25 for Adults and $20 for Students and Groups of 10 or more through 10HL.org.

10 Hairy Legs New Brunswick Performance Rescheduled

10 Hairy Legs returns to New Brunswick for its sixth consecutive season at a new location. Tickets for the weeknight show are $10 General Admission.  Tickets: 10HL.org. The evening features works performed in 10 states during the company's national tour in the fall and winter, including debuts at The Kravis Center in West Palm Beach and Dance Place in Washington, DC, and a Preview of a World Premiere by Yin Yue that will debut at the company's 2018 New York Season at Baryshnikov Arts Center. The performance is underwritten in part by a grant from The MagyarBank Charitable Foundation. Loree Dance Theatre is located on the Douglass Campus of Rutgers University, 70 Lipman Drive.
