The Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO)'s full-length, fully staged production of Benjamin Britten's comic opera Albert Herring takes center stage at the Princeton Festival Friday, June 17 and Sunday, June 19 at 7pm under the 10,000 square-foot performance tent on the grounds of Morven Museum & Garden.
It's never a good sign when, during an opera, you pay more attention to the orchestra than the people onstage. This is the kind of situation that befalls George Mason University's School of Music and Mason Opera's new revival of Benjamin Britten's Albert Herring. Britten's complex score is indeed a difficult one and Mason Opera tackles it head-on. They're never able to reach the necessary heights this work allows. This calls into question whether this selection was the right choice for this class of students.

IFC today announced Pamela Adlon (Louie, King of the Hill), Fred Armisen (Portlandia, SNL), Linda Cardellini (ER, Freaks and Geeks), John DiMaggio (Futurama, Adventure Time), Kate Micucci (Raising Hope, Bored to Death), Megan Mullally (Children's Hospital, Party Down) and Justin Roiland (Fish Hooks, Adventure Time) will voice the principal cast of characters in IFC's new half-hour original animated series, OUT THERE.
