The 40th Anniversary Dora Mavor Moore Awards for the 2018-2019 season were handed out in a star-studded celebratory ceremony in Toronto on the evening of Tuesday, June 25 at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, hosted by the multi-talented, multi-award-winning Rick Miller, well-known for his widely acclaimed one-man shows that include MacHomer, BOOM and Bigger Than Jesus (Dora Award for Outstanding Performance, 2006).

Swan Lake/Loch na nEala to Embark on Extensive tour of North America

Irish dance company Teac DamsaHouse of Dance has just announced that its production of Swan Lake (or in the Irish language translation, Loch na hEala) will embark on an extensive US and Canada tour, opening the Next Wave Festival 2019 at BAM, New York, before touring to Minneapolis, Ottawa, Los Angeles, Michigan, and North Carolina for six weeks.

Kaeja D'Dance Presents The 8th Annual PORCH VIEW DANCES

Kaeja d'Dance presents the beloved award-winning 8th Annual PORCH VIEW DANCES (PVD). This year PVD will be celebrated with the newly inaugurated Porch View Dances Lane in Seaton Village, of the Annex of Toronto. PVD is a unique family friendly site-specific production that showcases real people dancing in real spaces. The performance runs from July 17 to July 21, 2019, in Seaton Village, part of the Annex of Toronto.

New Music For LOUIS RIEL Co-Commissioned By Canadian Opera Company And National Arts Centre

The Canadian Opera Company is proud to partner with the National Arts Centre in co-commissioning new work to replace the music from the Kuyas aria that opens the third act of Louis Riel by composer Harry Somers and librettist Mavor Moore. Composer Ian Cusson, of M tis and French-Canadian descent, has been commissioned to create this new work for the opera, last performed at both the COC and NAC in 2017.

Pea Green Theatre Group Presents THREE MEN ON A BIKE

Three Men on a Bike is a Victorian period piece based on the further writings of popular Victorian humorist Jerome K. Jerome (1859-1927). At the end of the 19th century, three upper-middle class gentlemen are caught up in the great European bicycling craze. They decide to tour the continent on their new machines. (And since "the brake" hadn't quite been perfected yet, disaster ensues.)

40th Annual Dora Awards Nominations Announced: Soulpepper Takes Home 25 Nominations, DEAR EVAN HANSEN Taps 9 Noms

At a press conference held May 28 in the Davies Takacs Lobby of the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre, the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) announced 282 nominations for the 40th Anniversary Dora Mavor Moore Awards, which recognize excellence in professional theatre, dance and opera in Toronto. On Tuesday, June 25 at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, 49 Dora Mavor Moore Awards, the Silver Ticket Award and the Jon Kaplan Audience Choice Award will be presented.

Donna-Michelle St. Bernard Named Write from the Hip Program Director

Made In Canada Festival Unveils 2019 Line-Up

Living legend and 2019 Dance Hall of Fame inductee Louise Lecavalier will open this year's festival with a special artist talk and screening of the recent documentary Louise Lecavalier - In Motion. Additionally, 13 artists and companies will be presented across three Mainstage programs - curated by Matjash Mrozewski, Lina Cruz, and Festival Director Yvonne Ng - coupled with a lottery-based platform titled 'What You See Is What you Get' (WYSIWYG). An ancillary Arts Encounters program explores the photography, media arts, and other creative expressions created by five dance artists.
