Mockingbird Theatre brings to Melbourne audiences the return of the acclaimed Green Room award-winning staging of The Laramie Project by Moisés Kaufman and Members of The Tectonic Theatre Project.

Broadway favorite Max von Essen, who is currently starring in EVITA, recently spoke out about his feelings on equal rights and the importance of the upcoming election through an eloquent post on his personal Facebook page. You can read the full message below:

It took 10 years from the time of the death of Matthew Shepard to get hate crime legislation passed. I don't want it to be another 10 years before we remind ourselves of the reasons to be kind to each other.

In October, 1998, a 21 year old man was kidnapped, severely beaten and left to die in the middle of a prairie outside Laramie, Wyoming, because he was gay. His name was Matthew Shepard. Stage Door Inc. will be performing this beautiful and moving piece and has partnered with the Matthew Shepard Foundation to collect donations during the run of the show. The Laramie Project opens on the 13th Anniversary of Matthew Shepard's tragic death, Friday, October 12, 2012 and runs, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 3:00pm, through November 4, 2012.

Bullying is a problem that affects millions of students of all ages and races. But a group of high school students at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre is doing something about it. Under the guidance of industry professionals at Florida's largest award-winning professional regional theatre, area students are tackling the issue as they prepare to produce the drama The Laramie Project on the Theatre's professional stage. The show will take place at 8 p.m. tonight, Saturday, Sept. 8.

Tonight, August 17, The Screen Actors' Guild Foundation will feature a two-hour, moderated career Conversations event with Judith Light. The event is et to take place at the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway at 7:00 PM, and will be moderated by BroadwayWorld's own Richard Ridge.

Bad Habit Productions opens its sixth season, themed "Sex and Politics," with Moises Kaufman's play about the fall from grace of Oscar Wilde, and the social and political ramifications that echo more than a century later.

After several workshop productions and an LA Premiere, Alec Mapa (Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, The View, RuPaul's Drag Race, The Gossip Queens, Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure) will present the official New York Premiere of ALEC MAPA: BABY DADDY. It will be presented for a 2-week limited engagement opening tonight, July 19 at The Laurie Beechman Theater at West Bank Café.
