The SAE Stages THE LARAMIE PROJECT, Now thru 12/7

The School of Arts and Enterprise-Department of Theatre presents the inaugural show of their 2013-14 season, the award winning The Laramie Project, by Moises Kaufman, Leigh Fondakowski, Greg Pierotti, Andy Paris and Stephen Belber. The Laramie Project is directed by Phil Miller, The School of Arts & Enterprise New Director of Theatre. The Laramie Project features an 11-member cast comprised of some of the brightest young actors in the San Gabriel Valley.

Voting Now Open in 18 Categories for 2013 BroadwayWorld New York Cabaret Awards, Thru 1/5

If you're wondering whether or not 2013 was a fantastic year for the cabaret art form in New York, all you have to do is scan the amazing list of nominees for this year's BroadwayWorld New York Cabaret Awards and you'll know it was one of the best ever. So now it's time for all you cabaret performers and fans to vote for the best singers, musicians, songs, and shows of the year. Voting will continue until Sunday night January 5 and the winners will be announced later that week. We hope that all the winners will be able to perform in the Award show on Sunday night February 23 at Joe's Pub.

DePaul University to Host Reading of THE LARAMIE PROJECT, 11/18

On November 18 (6 PM), the Theatre School at DePaul University will host a staged reading of THE LARAMIE PROJECT by Moises Kaufman and The Members of the Tectonic Theater Project, directed by Theatre School adjunct faculty member Carolyn Hoerdemann. The reading will be followed by a moderated question/answer session, and breakout discussions.

The weekend of October 11, 2013, marks the 15th year since gay college student Matthew Shepard was abducted, tied to a fence, beaten and left to die by two assailants in Laramie, Wyoming. His murder claimed national and international attention and has become one of the most widely known anti-gay hate crimes in American history. Following Ford's Theatre's evening performance of the play The Laramie Project, the public was invited to participate in a candlelight vigil in memory of Matthew Shepard's life and in recognition of National Coming Out Day. Tectonic Theater Project Kicks Off Online Forum THE LARAMIE PROJECT: REFLECTIONS; Deadline Today

Tectonic Theater Project is proud to announce The Laramie Project: Reflections. Reflections is an online forum to commemorate the 15th anniversary of Matthew Shepard's death. On the 11th anniversary, Tectonic honored Matthew by premiering The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later with simultaneous readings of the new play in all 50 states and eight different countries. Four years after that momentous night, Tectonic has once again decided to implement a community-based, multi-media art project to remember Matthew.

Ford's Theatre Announces Shutdown Update, New LARAMIE PROJECT Schedule; Sets Vigil for 10/11

Due to the government shutdown, Ford's Theatre Society (FTS) has relocated several performances of 'The Laramie Project' to First Congregational United Church of Christ (945 G Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001) between October 9 and 15, 2013. The 2 p.m. October 13 performance of 'The Laramie Project' has been cancelled. Patrons who had purchased tickets to performances October 9 through 15 at Ford's Theatre will be contacted by their point of purchase to exchange into performances at the church. All remaining tickets for performances at the First Congregational United Church of Christ are $25.

Just last week, the cast of Big Fish on Broadway shared a supportive message for the cast of the Ole Miss production of THE LARAMIE PROJECT, which made national news this week after a group of football players interrupted the show with homophobic slurs and 'borderline hate speech' on October 1st. Actors from the James Tolin Memorial Fund (JTMF) will present a riveting staged reading of 'The Laramie Project' at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre tonight, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. Presented as part of JTMF's continuing Anti-Bullying/Anti-Suicide Campaign, this special event will benefit the Tyler Clementi Foundation. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

Due to the government shutdown, all Ford's Theatre Society (FTS) performances of The Laramie Project at Ford's Theatre National Historic Site through October 6 have been canceled. The Society has found an alternative space to present two free performances of the play The Laramie Project while the National Historic Site is closed during the government shutdown. Performances are today, Oct. 4, and Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 7:30 p.m., at the First Congregational United Church of Christ (945 G Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001), only a block away from Ford's Theatre. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Free tickets will be distributed on site on a first-come basis. House will open for seating at 7 p.m. When Ford's Theatre is allowed to reopen, The Laramie Project will resume as scheduled.
