Huntington Beach native Devin Cortez talks about his full-circle journey home with the national tour of Some Like It Hot, playing at Segerstrom Center through October 19.
Nominated for 13 Tony Awards, the 2022 musical adaptation SOME LIKE IT HOT is a surprisingly delightful, hilariously fun, and gleefully silly musical comedy that also has an endearingly open-minded new twist that re-contextualizes the movie's main raison d'être into something more empowering and thoughtful. The infectiously joyful show's marvelous touring production—directed and choreographed with rousing, kinetic energy by Casey Nicholaw direct from its Broadway origins—continues performances at OC's Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, CA through October 19, 2025.
In HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD, Albus Potter (Adam Grant Morrison) and Scorpius Malfoy (David Fine) use a Time-Turner to go back in time to try to prevent a tragedy from occurring. If Morrison could travel back to his first role, he might try to convince his younger self to stick with acting because it was going to take him to places he could never imagine. The show, which is the most expensive Broadway touring production at a cost of $23.5 million, will be performed from Oct. 12-26 at the Ohio Theatre (39 E. State Street in downtown Columbus).
The West End’s production of MJ the Musical will be coming to a close in February 2026, after opening in March last year. Dear Readers, first off there were way too many empty seats at the Paramount last night for the new musical version of “Some Like It Hot”. Where were you all? Do you not like musicals? Do you not like fun? Were you trapped under something heavy? (I will only accept the last answer as a viable excuse.). At any rate, get your tickets and do not let this one get away. Secondly, for our performance we got the added opportunity to see the resilience of theater people and the power of the understudy. But more on that later.
