A recent transplant to Buffalo, NY, Mr. Mendez took a few moments to share his thoughts on this true Americana murder ballad.

The American Repertory Theater of WNY will be co-producing with Navigation Theatre Company's in presenting the second showcasing of Western New York playwrights featuring the original work SOMETHING WICKED by James A Marzo. This deliciously fiendish story of the murderous plotting of three brothers and the botched cover-up will be presented at the Compass Performing Arts Center, 545 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo NY.

ART/WNY Presents BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S

American Repertory Theater of WNY will present the fifth production of the 2018-19 season with the stage adaptation of Truman Capote's famed novella Breakfast At Tiffney's. Written by American playwright Richard Greenberg, the work follows one of Capote's endearing literary figures, 'Holly Golightly' as seen through the eyes of an up-and-coming writer nicknamed 'Fred'. Presented at ART/WNY 545 Elmwood location, Breakfast at Tiffany's runs January 31st to February 16th, showtimes at 8 pm, Thursday through Saturday. Tickets are $20 General/$10 Student and Industry.

ART Returns To The Loft

In American Repertory Theater of WNY's inaugural season, the company found a perfect theatrical space to operate two of the three shows slated in the 2007-08 season. Working out of the TheaterLoft (545 Elmwood Avenue), home to the acclaimed and diverse Ujima Theatre Company, ART/WNY presented two works WHEN YA COMING BACK, RED RYDER, by Mark Medoff, and Tennessee William's THE ROSE TATTOO (which earned the company's first Artie Nomination for Best Ensemble). These two productions brought notoriety to the upstart company and established ART/WNY's reputation for producing thought-provoking, unknown or rarely done works that tell the American story.

ART/WNY Finds New Performance Spaces

The American Repertory Theater of WNY will operate out of two new performances spaces for the 2018-19 season and for future seasons. Signing a 10-year lease with Sinatra & Company Real Estate, American Repertory Repertory of WNY will operate out the the former Theatreloft space on 545 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo New York. The company has also entered into an agreement with TCS Development LLC to perform out the Philip Sheridan building on 3200 Elmwood Avenue, Tonawanda NY.   'We have gone from zero to 120 overnight.' Executive Director Matthew LaChiusa on the recent developments. 'The opportunities presented to us will enable this company's future for years to come. We are excited to be working with strong partners and ready to get these ventures rolling.'

Tom Waits has been painting an Americana landscape with his music over the past three decades. Much of his lyrics weave fictional individuals through nonfictional settings in the same 'dirty reality' style American short-story writer Raymond Carver and poet Charles Bukowski displayed in their works. The characters, the lives they lead, the dialogs, the monologs all within Waits vast encyclopedia of songs lend themselves to a theatrical setting where all are could be brought to life.

American Repertory Theater of WNY is presenting a special two-night staged reading of Buffalo-based playwright Matthew LaChiusa's dark comedy, FRED's REQUIEM. This vignette based work featuring grapes, a wake, and dirty family secrets will be presented at the company's 330 Amherst Street performance space on January 26th & 27th, 8 pm.
