Just last night, New York Theatre Workshop celebrated its NYTW 2022 Gala, honoring Artistic Director James C. Nicola, who will depart NYTW after 34 years on June 30, 2022. 

With 'Resilient' as the theme for their 30th season, Renaissance Theaterworks (RTW), “Theater by Women, for Everyone,” recently announced the plays and schedule for 2022-23. Performances take place in their new artistic home at 255 South Water St., and tickets, as well as season subscriptions, will be available to purchase on April 20, 2022.

Lincoln Center Theater has announced its upcoming production of Epiphany, a new play by Brian Watkins, directed by Tyne Rafaeli.  Epiphany will begin previews Thursday, May 19 and open on Thursday, June 16 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65 Street).

The Hermitage Artist Retreat, in collaboration with the Greenfield Foundation, will present the 14th annual Hermitage Greenfield Prize Celebration Weekend, April 8-10, 2022, culminating in the Hermitage Greenfield Prize Dinner on Sunday, April 10.

Geffen Playhouse’s next live production in their Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater, Lindsay Joelle’s TRAYF opens March 10th (with previews already in progress). Maggie Burrows directs the cast of Ilan Eskenazi, Ben Hirschhorn, Louisa Jacobson and Garrett Young. Nollywood Dreams, the first production of MCC's 2021-22 season, began previews at the Newman Mills Theater on October 21, 2021. Directed by Saheem Ali (Fires in The Mirror), Nollywood Dreams opened on November 11, 2021 and will play a limited run through November 28, 2021.

The play, which opens December 2 at The District Theatre, marks the first full-length production for American Lives Theatre since the pandemic threated to shut down the new company entirely.

The Huntington announces the New England premiere of Teenage Dick by Mike Lew, a darkly comic re-telling of Shakespeare's Richard III set in the most treacherous of places -high school. The production runs from December 3, 2021 to January 2, 2022 at The Huntington's Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA, and with digital access to the filmed performance through January 16, 2022.

Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director) and Barry Grove (Executive Producer) have announced a robust slate of playwright commissions through Manhattan Theatre Club's new partnership with the Edgerton Foundation, as well as a new round of commissions supported by ongoing partnerships with Bobbie Olsen and other donors.

New York Theatre Workshop announced today that Sanctuary City, written by Pulitzer Prize winner, NYTW Usual Suspect and former 2050 Fellow Martyna Majok (Cost of Living, queens) and directed by Rebecca Frecknall (Summer and Smoke), will be available for streaming from Monday October 25 through Sunday November 21, 2021.

 Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater Artistic Director Molly Smith and Executive Producer Edgar Dobie announced accomplished leader and artist Teresa Sapien as the institution’s new Associate Artistic Director. Sapien joined the company in 2019 and most recently served as casting director/line producer.
