Get the new year off to a joyous start by spending some time in the company of Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart, Irving Berlin, George and Ira Gershwin, Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe, and Frank Loesser. Bruce Linser, whose cabaret shows have been seen locally as well as internationally aboard SilverSea and Crystal Cruises, brings his popular evening of Broadway standards,Almost Like Being in Love, to Palm Beach Dramaworks' Cabaret Series from January 5-7. He will be accompanied by Irwin Solomon at the piano.

Broadway veteran and South Florida favorite Avery Sommers, whose voice has been described as a "powerhouse" by The New York Times, takes the stage in Palm Beach Dramaworks' new cabaret series at the Perlberg Studio Theatre from June 23 - June 25. Sommers will present a program of songs by Fats Waller, Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart, George and Ira Gershwin, Marvin Hamlisch, Whitney Houston, Donna Sumner, and others. She will be accompanied by Irwin Solomon at the piano.

Today, 437 local nonprofit organizations will be seeking donations during the second annual, 24-hour GREAT GIVE, sponsored by the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties and the United Way of Palm Beach County. But yesterday, 10 of these nonprofits united for a musical overture to this year's GREAT GIVE as nine talented pianists simultaneously played nine painted pianos in the poolside Palm Court at The Colony Hotel, Palm Beach. Four Broward County Artists Receive 2013 South Florida Visual and Media Fellowships

Four Broward County artists have been named as recipients of the 2013 South Florida Cultural Consortium Visual and Media Artists Fellowships. Leah Brown ($15,000) - Mixed Media; Henning Haupt ($7,500) - Mixed Media; Catalina Jaramillo (($15,000) Installation; and Rosanna Saccaccio ($7,500) - Visual Art, were recently selected to receive this esteemed, five-county artist fellowship. This year's selection is from a record-breaking group of more than 360 applicants. In total, fourteen fellowships were awarded in the five-county area - Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe and Martin counties.

Florida Stage, now in residence at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach, is celebrating leading ladies of the theatre with a gala fundraising event. The evening includes cocktails at sunset, followed by a showcase of South Florida's finest musical talent and culinary delights. Dubbed Divas Under Glass: A Cabaret Feast for the Senses, the event will be held at West Palm Beach's new Lake Pavilion, the beautiful glass structure on Flagler Drive's Waterfront Promenade on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, starting at 6:30 PM. Tickets are $300 per person and include cocktails, a dinner 'by the bite' and a dessert buffet. Proceeds will benefit Florida Stage. Dress is 'glamorous casual.'
