Five finalists have been named in Pride Films and Plays' Great Gay Screenplay Contest, an international contest for screenplays with LGBT characters and themes. The finalists include a wide range of subject matter ranging from a love triangle set in France, a mystical teenage romance laced with racial tension, a set of non-actors facing possible Hollywood stardom, a sweet coming-of-age tale, and an older man's revelation of painful secrets.

GLAAD announced the nominees for the 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, which include 15 theatrical productions that ran in New York and Los Angeles this year. Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) seeks submissions for the 15th Annual TRU VOICES New Plays Reading Series (deadline January 18, 2013 for non-TRU members; January 25, 2013 for TRU members). TheTRU VOICES New Plays Reading Series is a unique series geared towards nurturing the producer-writer relationship, and is particularly interested in finding producers who are looking for opportunities to develop new works. Shows selected will receive staged readings to be presented in June of 2013. Each reading will be followed by a 'Dollars and Sense' panel discussion with prominent New York producers, general managers and artistic directors focusing on potential venues, marketing and budgeting of the work.

These five plays will be performed as enhanced staged readings (with movement and design elements) by members of the Artistic Ensemble of Pride Films and Plays during Gay Play Weekend, May 16 to 19, 2013 at Center on Halsted's Hoover-Leppen Theatre, 3656 N. Halsted, Chicago. A full performance schedule for the weekend will be announced in January.

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) is extending the submission deadline for the 2012TRU Voices New Musicals Reading Series to August 23 (for musicals without a producer) and August 30 (with a producer attached). Two to three musicals will be chosen and read on Mondays in December at a theater to be confirmed. Submission guidelines are available at www.truonline.org/Musicals12guidelines.htm.

The Odyssey Theatre Ensemble has extended The Irish Curse, the wickedly funny and insightful new comedy by Martin Casella about five guys with "one tiny problem," through September 16.
