'SCHIKANEDER - The turbulent love story behind The Magic Flute' is the new VBW musical of Christian Struppeck (book) and Stephen Schwartz (music and lyrics) about the actor, singer, director, writer and impresario Emanuel Schikaneder and his wife, Eleonore Schikaneder. The world premiere took place on 30th September 2016 at the Raimund Theater in Vienna, Austria.
Am vergangenen Freitag fand im Raimund Theater Wien die Weltpremiere des Musicals SCHIKANEDER statt. Die neue Eigenproduktion der Vereinigten Buhnen Wien (VBW) stammt aus der Feder von Oscar- und Grammy Gewinner Stephen Schwartz (Musik und Lyrics) und Christian Struppeck (Buch). Das Stuck handelt von Emanuel Schikaneder, seinerseits Librettist der weltberuhmten Oper „Die Zauberflote". Daruber hinaus war er aber auch Produzent, Regisseur, Theaterbesitzer, Schauspieler und eine er schillerndsten Theaterpersonlichkeiten des 18 Jahrhunderts. SCHIKANEDER ist aber keineswegs eine musikalisierte Biografie. Vielmehr erzahlt das Musical von der turbulenten Liebesgeschichte zwischen ihm und seiner Frau Eleonore.

Just a little over a year after our last interview with Christian Struppeck, shortly after the musical SCHIKANEDER was announced, we got to catch up with him again to find out how the show has developed since then and how things are going in the rehearsal room.

The two lead actors, Mark Seibert (Schikaneder) und Milica Jovanovic (Eleonore) recently went into the studio to record one of the songs from the musical by Stephen Schwartz (Music and Lyrics) und VBW director Christian Struppeck (book) to give a small taste of the show: 'Traum Groß' (Dream Big).
