In a combined triumph for the Classic Popular Songbook, its purveyors and adherents, and the professionalism and perseverance of THE MABEL MERCER FOUNDATION, that unique organization presents its 30th Annual New York Cabaret Convention at The Rose Theater, Jazz at Lincoln Center, beginning Monday, October 28th and running through Thursday, October 31st. The four individual concerts will be offered at 6:00 PM each evening, and more than seventy-five vocalists and musicians are scheduled to perform. With nearly 10 years of "great shows, up close," the Harris Center provides not one, but three stages for artists from all over the world - from as far away as Australia, India and the Ukraine, and as nearby as downtown Folsom. Based on the Disney film written by Ron Clements, John Musker, Donald McEnery, Bob Shaw, and Irene Mecchi and directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, HERCULES will feature over 200 New Yorkers from all five boroughs and features choreography by Chase Brock, as well as additional new songs by Menken and Zippel for this Public Works production in addition to six songs from the film's beloved Academy Award-nominated score.

It could have been dubbed a?oeChita Rivera's Dance Salona?? for the presenters, attendees and honorees read like a Who's Who of Chita's friends, fans and fellow Fosse favorites, including hosts Ben Vereen and Anne Reinking.
Grammy nominee Mark Hummel returns, kicking off the new year with the latest iteration of his all-star blues revue, the 2019 Southern Blues Harp Blowout. As always, his guests are stellar: Grammy Award-winner Bobby Rush is a ten-time Blues Music Award winner, B.B. King Entertainer of the Year, and Rolling Stone "King of the Chitlin' Circuit" winner. Alabama harpman James Harman- one of the great performers, writers and unique characters in the blues today - has employed some of the all-time great blues musicians in his bands. Kenny Neal is a second-generation southern Louisiana bluesman, 2017 Grammy nominee and winner of two Blues Music Awards for his Bloodline recording. And Jumpin' Johnny Sansone studied harmonica with Junior Wells and James Cotton; his former band Jumpin Johnny's Blues Party was the foundation of the New Orleans-based The Iguanas. Rounding out the good times is blues supergroup Golden State/Lone Star Blues Revue.
Presented by The Reel Blues Fest, Inc., more than 16 blues musicians from around the country including James Montgomery, Bob Margolin, Jerry Portnoy and many others will come together on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. for an all-star tribute to the late blues harmonica legend James Cotton.
America's Got Talent's Jeffrey Li made his musical theater debut in the developmental reading of Lainie Sakakura (producer/book) and Paul Fujimoto's (music/lyrics) CORNER OF BITTER AND SWEET, a musical adaptation of The New York Times Best Selling novel, HOTEL ON THE CORNER OF BITTER AND SWEET by Jamie Ford at The Playroom Theater in New York on September 17.
Sakakura is presenting an invitation-only developmental reading of Lainie Sakakura (producer/book) and Paul Fujimoto's (music/lyrics) The Corner of Bitter and Sweet, a musical adaptation of The New York Times Best Selling novel, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford, at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, September 17 at The Playroom Theater, 151 W. 46th Street in New York.
