The Broad Stage Announces Live and In Person Programming for Fall 2021

The Broad Stage has announced three live and in person attractions for fall 2021 – starting with the West Coast Premiere of the new opera Birds in the Moon, co-commissioned by The Broad Stage, for four outdoor performances in Santa Monica September 1 through 4.

Last weekend at Marcus Garvey Park The National Black Theatre and the New York Philharmonic, together, were bringing culture back to Harlem and to New York City. The first week of NY Phil Bandwagon 2 was held at Domino Park. The Friday and Sunday performances drew community members and families celebrating Mother’s Day. Presented were performances by Juana Luna and Elisa Toro Franky, Mariachi Tapatio de Alvaro Paulino, Alma Adentro, and the World Premiere of Mark Grey's “Birds in the Moon.”

Grammy-winning conductor Michael Christie will lead the Welsh National Opera Orchestra to accompany finalists in the 2021 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World main prize competition. Staged without an audience in strict compliance with the latest health and safety government guidelines related to COVID-19, the competition takes place from June 12 – June 19, 2021 at St. David's Hall in Cardiff.

New York Philharmonic Announces Programming for First Week of NY Phil Bandwagon 2

NY Phil Bandwagon 2 will begin this weekend at Domino Park in Brooklyn. Programmed in collaboration with Bandwagon 2 partner El Puente, the three-day festival celebrating Mother’s Day and Mother Earth takes place from a customized 20-foot shipping container and is hosted by Los Sures civic leader and El Puente CADRE member Esteban Duran.

Conductor Donato Cabrera Announces Two New Online Series

Donato Cabrera, Music Director of the California Symphony and Las Vegas Philharmonic, has launched two new online projects. MusicWise - Conversations about Art and Culture with Donato Cabrera is a weekly series on Facebook Live and The Music Plays On is a daily series on Cabrera's blog, featuring commentary and analysis on his favorite performances and recordings. Both initiatives are part of the continued commitment by Cabrera, California Symphony, and Las Vegas Philharmonic to promote engagement and connection with their audiences.

Isabelle McCalla and More Join the Cast of Lyric's 42ND STREET, Starring Norm Lewis and Faith Prince

Lyric has announced full casting for its production of 42nd Street, to be presented May 29 - June 21, 2020, at the Lyric Opera House, 20 N. Wacker Drive, Chicago. Previously announced Broadway stars Norm Lewis (Julian Marsh) and Faith Prince (Dorothy Brock) are joined by Isabelle McCalla (Peggy Sawyer), who recently starred in Broadway's The Prom and Aladdin, and Ashley Day (Billy Lawlor), who reprises his role from the West End revival of 42nd Street.
