In celebration of the 25th anniversary of 'Beauty and the Beast,' The Walt Disney Studios and the Film Society of Lincoln Center presented an exclusive screening of the beloved animated classic at Alice Tully Hall. It was here, in September 1991, that a work-in-progress version of 'Beauty and the Beast' was first screened at the New York Film Festival -- and received a standing ovation. This 'tale as old as time' went on to break ground as the first animated feature film to receive an Academy Award® nomination, and twenty-five years later audiences of all ages continue to fall in love with this enchanting tale, its captivating characters and unforgettable, award-winning music score and original song, 'Beauty and the Beast.'

The Off-Broadway smash RUTHLESS! THE MUSICAL will conclude its triumphant 14-month run tomorrow (Saturday) at St. Luke's Theatre, 308 West 46 Street (just west of Eighth Ave.) RUTHLESS! opened July 13, 2015 to unanimous rave reviews led by Entertainment Weekly which called the show, "Uproarious! A mash-up of THE BAD SEED, GYPSY, ALL ABOUT EVE, plus the films of Douglas Sirk and John Waters!" Just some of the celebrities spotted in the audience have included Ron Howard, Regis & Joy Philbin, Bernadette Peters, Lynn Cohen, Chelsie Hightower, Mario Cantone, Dmitry Chaplin, Laura Bell Bundy, Barbara Eden, Jan Maxwell, Legacy, Larry Thomas (The Soup Nazi), Jackie Hoffman, Sierra Boggess, and Dame Gillian Lynne. The original cast recording, produced by Robert Sher, is set for release this fall.

After a sold out run at The Abingdon Theatre in NYC earlier this year, Charles Messina's hysterical nostalgia piece A ROOM OF MY OWN, about growing up in a one room apartment in Greenwich Village in the 70s, opens a limited run at The Seven Angels Theatre in Waterbury, Conn.  Previews begin September 22nd.

Broadwayworld.com interviewed Liza Vann who will play Vivacity in James McLure's IAGO. Directed by the SuzAnne Barabas, the show will be performed at New Jersey Repertory Theatre from August 25th to September 25th.

This week, July 17, marks the 117th birthday of Hollywood legend James Cagney. This very same week, CAGNEY, the new hit musical about James Cagney, plays its 117th performance at The Westside Theatre, upstairs. ?Abingdon Theatre Company, in association with The Muse Project, announces talkbacks following the performances of STET on Sunday, June 26 at 2pm; Tuesday, June 28 at 7pm; and Thursday, June 30 at 7pm. Written by Kim Davies and developed by Kim Davies, Jocelyn Kuritsky and Tony Speciale, STET is a new play inspired by the Rolling Stone article 'A Rape on Campus.' Artistic Director Tony Speciale directs the world premiere, marking his first programming as Artistic Director.
