The soulful songs and glamorous nightlife of the 1950s will swing once more when CabaretFest returns to Provincetown May 31 to June 3. Twenty-eight cabaret entertainers from Boston, New York City, Florida and Palm Springs, will participate in ten live shows, a Q&A luncheon panel session, two performance workshops, two Marilyn Maye Master Classes, and enjoy parties and networking along with VIP pass holders. The VIP pass includes entry to all the live shows, opportunities to monitor workshops and invitations to private parties. Festival Producer Patricia Fitzpatrick sums it up like this: 'Where else can you walk a few yards, see and hear so many of the nation's top cabaret performers in one place? Only in Provincetown. Provincetown is like Broadway with sand.'
Based on the beloved story written by Louisa May Alcott, the adventures of the four March sisters is brought to vivid musical life in Little Women, the Musical. The Civil War is in full swing, and the March sisters -- Meg, the oldest, a romantic, the spirited and tomboyish Jo, sweet and loving Beth, and artistic, playful Amy -- live in Concord, Massachusetts with their Marmee while their father is on the battlefield. Filled with adventure (both lived and imagined), heartbreak, and a deep sense of hope, the struggle of these 'Little Women' to find their own voices mirrors the growing pains of a young America. With buoyant, joyful melodies, memorable characters, and a big-hearted message, Little Women reminds us that 'sometimes when you dream, your dreams come true.'

Inspired by the current political climate, Suffolk University Theatre Professor Wesley Savick brings a new musical to the Modern Theatre, one state, two state / red state, blue state. The musical features new songs in the indigenous American languages of folk, country, blues, jazz and Broadway. The story focuses on what happens when "Betty" and "Bill" - former lovers living on opposite sides of the country - rekindle their relationship after a long separation.
Actress Alison Janes will reprise her role as Marilyn Monroe in the critically acclaimed play "Marilyn, Madness and Me" when it opens at 7 p.m. Friday for a two-night run on March 9 and 10 at Indian Wells Theatre.

Audiences nationwide can experience the inspiring true story of Brooks Douglass, the youngest state senator in Oklahoma history, when 'The Amendment,'premieres in U.S. cinemas for a one-night event this spring. Writtenby Douglass and Paul Brown, this tale of justice chronicles Douglass' struggle to turn evil into good when his parents were murdered in their rural Oklahoma home while he and his sister were just teenagers. Douglass later spearheaded the victims' rights bill to ensure victims like him had opportunities for closure when perpetrators were convicted of their crimes.
The Cincinnati Arts Association has announced the winners of its Overture Awards Competition, held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Aronoff Center's Jarson-Kaplan Theater, and the winner of its Arts Educator Award for Excellence in Arts Instruction. The competition awarded $4,000 to six area students for education and training, with 18 runners-up each winning $1,000, while the Arts Educator Award winner received $2,500 and two finalists were awarded $500 each.
