Just about the most spectacular opera event of the season so far arrived at Carnegie Hall Sunday afternoon, with the English Concert and Harry Bicket making their annual foray into Handel territory, with a superb RINALDO.

On Tuesday, April 24 at 7:30 p.m. in Zankel Hall, acclaimed American tenor Lawrence Brownlee presents the New York premiere of Cycles of My Being, a new song cycle composed by Tyshawn Sorey with lyrics by Terrance Hayes that explores the realities of life as a black man in America. Brownlee—hailed as one of “the world's leading bel canto tenors” by the Associated Press—is conducted by composer Tyshawn Sorey and joined by violinist Randall Goosby, cellist Khari Joyner, clarinetist Alexander Laing, and pianist Kevin Miller for Cycles of My Being, which is co-commissioned by Carnegie Hall as part of the Hall's 125 Commissions Project. The program opens with Schumann's Dichterliebe, to be performed alongside pianist Myra Huang.

The stunning National Theatre production of Tony Kushner's Angels in America opens on Broadway tonight at the Neil Simon Theater.

 More than 480 business and philanthropic leaders, influencers, older adult advocates, and cultural patrons gathered at the Ziegfeld Ballroom Monday at the fifth annual Eight Over Eighty benefit gala hosted by The New Jewish Home. The nonprofit paid tribute to eight New Yorkers who, in their ninth and tenth decades, continue to live lives of remarkable achievement, vitality, and civic engagement. The event raised $1.1 million to support The New Jewish Home, one of the nation's largest and most diversified nonprofit older adult health care systems, providing rehabilitation, skilled nursing and health care programs, which serves 12,000 older adults of all faiths and ethnicities annually.

Riverside Theatre's production of Mamma Mia! adds two additional performances! Mamma Mia! runs April 10-29, 2018 on the Stark Stage and is sponsored by Dave Horner with additional support from Riverside Theatre's Patron Producers' Group. Mamma Mia! is a co-production with the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia.

Court Theatre, under the continuing leadership of Charles Newell, Marilyn F. Vitale Artistic Director, continues its 2017/18 season with Guess Who's Coming to Dinner by Todd Kreidler (based on the screenplay by William Rose), directed by Marti Lyons with Associate Director Wardell Julius Clark. Guess Who's Coming to Dinner runs March 15 - April 15, 2018 at Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ellis Ave. The press opening is Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 8:00pm.

Tony Award winning choreographer and director George Faison (The Wiz) presented Andre De Shields, a two-time Tony nominee, Drama Desk nominee, Emmy winner and multi-Audelco Award and Outer Critics Circle Award winner, with the 2018 Bob Harrington Lifetime Achievement Award at the 33rd Annual Bistro Awards Gala, held at Gotham Comedy Club in New York on March 12th. De Shields received the Bistro Awards' highest honor for his five decades of stage and nightclub accomplishments.

NYU Skirball will present U.S. premieres of two acclaimed international theater productions that confront today's political and social unrest: War and Peace, from Germany's Gob Squad theater company, is an immersive theater/video adaptation of Tolstoy's masterwork, running March 29 - 31; and The Dictatorship of Coolness, a raucous social satire reflecting on art, culture and greed, presented by Chile's Teatro La Re-Sentida, running April 6 and 7.

Neil Diamond To Receive Highest Honor At Songwriters Hall of Fame

Musical Theatre Guild, the winner of the Los Angeles Drama Critic's Circle Margaret Harford Award for sustained excellence in the theatre, will present HOLLYWOOD REVISITED as a special benefit to support Musical Theatre Guild's extensive youth outreach programs. The event, a perfect tie in with the company's "MTG Goes To The Movies" season theme, will take place at Burbank's Colony Theatre on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 7:30 pm.

1812 Productions will close its 21st season with the Philadelphia Premiere of Michael Hollinger's Hope and Gravity. After a 20-year personal and professional friendship, Producing Artistic Director Jennifer Childs will direct Hollinger's work, his first-ever production with 1812. Hope and Gravity will play from April 26 thru May 20 at Plays and Players Theatre. Previews begin April 26. Opening Night will be Wednesday, May 2 at 7:00pm. Broadway In Boston, Boston's mainstage for Broadway, has unveiled the upcoming 2018-2019 Lexus Broadway Season during its annual spring announcement event at the Boston Opera House.  Eleven theatrical productions will take center stage at the Boston Opera House and the Emerson Colonial Theatre.  Over 1500 people from around the city gathered for the annual celebration including Broadway In Boston's Season ticket holders, group leaders, arts and business leaders, city officials, partners from around the city, sponsors and the Boston media.  Highlights from the day included live performances from cast members of DEAR EVAN HANSEN, ROALD DAHL'S CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, SCHOOL OF ROCK and A BRONX TALE.  

Tony Award nominee, and winner of the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award(Best Solo Performance 2015), Orson Bean, continues with the run of "Alright Then," co-starring Alley Mills at Pacific Resident Theatre. Directed by Guillermo Cienfuegos (Ovation Award and Los Angeles Drama Critic's Circle Award for Best Director) the show was inspired by Bean's multi-award winning companion piece SAFE AT HOME: An Evening with Orson Bean and tuns Thursdays - Saturdays at 8pm, and on Sundays at 3pm through April 15, 2018

Contra Costa Civic Theatre (CCCT) continues its 58th season with Christopher Durang's comic mash-up of the plays of Anton Chekhov, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, directed by Diana Trotter in her CCCT debut.  Winner of the Tony, Drama Desk, and New York Drama Critics awards for Best Play, CCCT's production plays April 13 through May 6.

The Suncoast Credit Union Gasparilla International Film Festival (GIFF) is proud to announce the dynamic 2018 Feature Film Competition Lineup. The festival includes 35 U.S., international and documentary features, as well as other programming, to kick-off its 12th festival season. GIFF will begin on Tuesday, March 20th with the opening night musical/drama, Stuck, starring Giancarlo Esposito, Amy Madigan and Ashanti.
