The Eastside Artists will present their annual show and sale December 7-9 at the Masonic Building, 312 E College Street in downtown Iowa City. Hours are 10am-8pm Today, 10am-5pm Saturday and Sunday. The show features original, affordable gifts by professional local artists. Admission is free.

The National Theatre production of Network, produced by David Binder, the National Theatre, Patrick Myles, David Luff, Ros Povey and Lee Menzies, opens tonight, December 6 at Broadway's Belasco Theatre.

Osmo Vanska announced plans today at the Minnesota Orchestra's annual meeting to conclude his tenure as Music Director of the Minnesota Orchestra in August 2022. The 2021-22 season, his final as music director, will mark his 19th year at the helm of the Minnesota Orchestra, capping what is widely considered one of the great musical partnerships in Minnesota Orchestra history. Beyond 2022, Mr. Vanska and the Minnesota Orchestra will maintain their musical relationship, with Mr. Vanska returning for ongoing concert engagements.

The Minnesota Orchestra's 2018 Annual Meeting today celebrated the artistic and financial milestones of the Orchestra's 2017-18 season, a year in which the Orchestra received a Grammy nomination and added to its Mahler symphony cycle; launched its first full-Orchestra Sensory-Friendly concert; toured to Mankato, Chicago, London and, in a first for a U.S. orchestra, South Africa-and achieved a balanced budget. Margaret Bracken was elected Board Chair by the Orchestra's Board of Directors, succeeding Marilyn Carlson Nelson, who completed a two-year term. 

Sundance Institute spotlights work at the dynamic crossroads of film, art and technology with the New Frontier selections for the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, announced today. This curated collection of cutting-edge independent and experimental media works are by creators who are pushing artistic innovation across new mediums that include VR, AR, mixed reality (MR) and AI. Programmers assembled a global slate of work from a mix of invitations and submissions to an open call for VR work earlier this year.

Andrea Wolff's I Can't Trace Time, a passionate and whimsical musical memoir, will play one more show in December, moving to the Laurie Beechman Theatre on 12/10 at 6pm. With a signature mixture of pop and Broadway and an ensemble led by Music Director Jude Obermuller, I Can't Trace Time features a master entertainer who has been widely lauded for her strong comic timing, offbeat and compelling characterizations and superb taste in music. Special Guest Artist, guitarist Sean Harkness will appear. The show is directed by 2018 MAC and Bistro Award winning writer-actor, Dan Ruth. Gettysburg Community Theatre (GCT) the not-for-profit 501c3 community theatre located at 49 York Street in historic downtown Gettysburg, will close its 10th Season with a its first ever Awards Night at 8pm Saturday, December 8th.

Best Of The Dirty Thirty 2018 is a curated collection of our best thirty original plays of the year, which Degenerate Fox will valiantly attempt to perform in just one hour. These plays could be anything: comedy, drama, dance, games, songs, rants, personal, political, experimental - and stuff there just isn't a name for yet. The order of the plays is up to the audience - as we all work to get this chaotically succinct hour of honest performance complete!

On Saturday December 8th at 7:30pm, local chanteuses Brenda Lewis and Gayle Ackroyd bring their sixth annual popularChristmas Harmonies concert to the ANAF Club. They return with their trademark family-like vocal harmonies, which are no surprise as Brenda's older brother Dave - and Gayle's sister Mary and brother-in-law Jim toured in a country rock band together across Canada and in Europe throughout the 1980's.

A HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS – THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY will be broadcast Friday, Dec. 21 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Host LL COOL J will introduce inspirational stories about children adopted from foster care, and Gwen Stefani, Train and Lukas Graham will each perform. Danielle Steers, who currently shares the stage with Christina in Bat Out of Hell, and Daniel Buckley, who appeared in Eugenius! The Musical at The Other Palace, will join her on stage for both shows on Monday January 7th 2019, 7pm and 9.15pm.
