The first BROADWAY BALLYHOO devoted exclusively to the singers from one Broadway show features three of the stars from GODSPELL: Morgan James, Telly Leung, and Julia Mattison. They will perform an evening of all Broadway show tunes, including a sampling from their hit show, on March 1st at 11pm.

In its ninth star-studded year at Birdland, Jim Caruso will bring his celebrated Cast Party back to the big stage at Town Hall for a second year. The Best of Jim Caruso's Cast Party will take place on Thursday, February 23 at 8PM and will be presented by the one and only Scott Siegel. The Town Hall (123 West 43 Street) signed on Marilyn Maye, Ben Davis, Dameka Hayes, Jessie Mueller, Alice Ripley, Tom Wopat and Noah Racey, who also choreographed, to perform in THE BROADWAY MUSICALS OF 1946 last night, February 13, 2012 at 8pm. Ross Patterson was the musical director.

The Town Hall (123 West 43 Street) has signed Award-winning Jazz singer Marilyn Maye, Tony Award winner, Ben Davis (Baz Luhrmann's La Boheme), Dameka Hayes, Audelco Award Nominee for It Ain't Nothing But The Blues and Jessie Mueller, who made her Broadway debut in On a Clear Day…, to perform in THE BROADWAY MUSICALS OF 1946 on Monday, February 13, 2012 at 8pm.

When The Public Theater premiered Adam Guettel's Myths and Hymns in 1998 - under the title Saturn Returns - it was presented as a simple song cycle using chamber arrangements of pop, gospel and classical styles in a loose theme of exploring the human relationship to faith, utilizing traditional hymns and ancient myths.  In the new production presented by Prospect Theater Company, director Elizabeth Lucas, through snippets of connecting dialogue and short, silent scenes, gives the evening a bit of a narrative.  The result is too thin to add any dramatic heft, but not so intrusive as to distract from the poetry of the material and the tender and touching performances of her beautifully singing cast.

The holder of the singer's record (76 appearances) on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, Marilyn Maye's career is a litany of honors, awards, and landmark achievements. Her hit songs include "Step to the Rear," "The Lamp is Low," "Sherry' and 'If My Friends Could See Me Now.' Known as a "Singer's Singer," she has performed at New York's Copa Cobana, The Living Room, Michael's Pub, The Rainbow Grill, St. Regis, The Metropolitan Room and the legendary Birdland. Last night, January 12th, Nightlife Award Winner Marilyn Maye, Maya Days (Aida), Joan Almedilla (Kim in MISS SAIGON), and vocalist Natalie Douglas took to the stage at Feinstein's at Loews Regency in the latest installment of Broadway Ballyhoo. As in weeks past, this cast performed Broadway show tunes in the new series that changes every Thursday night with a new cast singing entirely different songs every week.

I've heard it said that there was this Australian fellow playing the Broadhurst recently who regularly had his audiences whipped up into quite a frenzy.  I've also heard of a Liverpool quartet that could pack screaming fans into a sold out Shea Stadium.  Now, I couldn't tell you if the decibel level was just as high at The Metropolitan Room last week when an American gal named Marilyn Maye was frequently honored with roaring ovations on the final night of her quickie engagement called Marilyn By Request, but I bet Messrs. Jackman, McCartney and Starr would be quite delighted to be still inspiring such boisterous affection as they were approaching their 84th birthdays.

The Carlyle Hotel's legendary Café Carlyle just kicked off a concert series last night, January 10, featuring Tony winner Paulo Szot. Szot will ring in the New Year with an all new program in a three-week return engagement through January 28 with Billy Stritch, Musical Director.

In this one-night only appearance, Jenna revisits the music of some of the most popular and influential Italian-American pop singers of the 20th century, each of whom changed their names and performed "undercover".

In addition to her hotly anticipated New Year's Eve performances at the Metropolitan Room on December 31, Marilyn Maye extended her popular show with performances on January 4, 5, and 6. "Marilyn By Request," in which Maye and her Billy Stritch-led band created a new show based on audience requests, marks her return to the Metropolitan Room. For anyone in the business who knows Mark D. Sendroff, of N.Y. entertainment law firm Sendroff/Baruch, is to know just how much he is admired by his clients, who somehow also happen to become his very good friends. It's a testament of time and to Sendroff, himself, who still very much loves what he does every day and can usually be found at theaters, nightclubs, workshops, etc. (from coast to coast and across the Atlantic) at some time, pretty much every day. There's barely a show or project that doesn't always have at least one Sendroff client attached to it.
