Gianandrea Noseda continues his third season as Music Director of the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) by leading the Orchestra in its return to New York City conducting Act II of Wagner's Tristan und Isolde for one performance only on November 17, 2019 as part of Lincoln Center's Great Performers series and White Light Festival. Noseda, who just last spring brought the NSO to Carnegie Hall for a critically acclaimed concert, will first perform Act II of Tristan und Isolde at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. on November 13 and 15, 2019, before conducting the program in New York with the same soloists: tenor Stephen Gould and soprano Christine Goerke in the title roles.
Benjamin Britten's Noye's Fludde comes to Theatre Royal Stratford East, in a co-production with the English National Opera, opening on Wednesday 3 July. This rarely performed one act opera is directed by Lyndsey Turner, and for the project, 120 East London Primary school children, 70 young musicians from East London, and an adult community choir have come together with professional opera singers and musicians.

Originally intended as a stinging satire on Victorian politics and the House of Lords in particular, Gilbert and Sullivan's supremely silly comic opera Iolanthe is in fine form as it returns to the Coliseum. The story is of the eponymous fairy Iolanthe, banished from fairyland as she married a mortal. Her son Strephon wants to marry Phyllis, but all the members of the House of Peers wants to marry Phyllis as well. When Phyllis suspects Strephon of being unfaithful, she sets off a huge confrontation between the fairies and the peers.
