Everyone has been acquainted with the story of CINDERELLA in some way, shape or form. What not everyone has experienced is this timeless tale told through a mixture of opera, ballet and acting. Indeed, this self-aware adaptation of Pauline Viardot’s chamber opera CINDERELLA (CENDRILLON), presented by Cape Town Opera with AM Productions

An enchanting operatic production of CINDERELLA is coming to the Artscape Opera House from 4 to 8 July 2023. Presented by Cape Town Opera (CTO) in association with AM Productions, this is the South African premiere of this brand-new adaptation of Pauline Viardot’s chamber opera CENDRILLON.

The 18th Annual Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival has announced its September program titled Tennessee Williams: Science Fiction and Fantasy. 

An enchanting operatic production of Cinderella will come to life in the upcoming winter school holidays in a spectacular family-friendly production at the Artscape Opera House from 4 to 8 July 2023. 

The stars and beautiful people came out to play at the 58th FLEUR DU CAP AWARDS last Sunday night - 26 March 2023. It was such a treat to be surrounded by so many great theatre makers and talented human beings, as well as to honour those who have done incredible things in the last year.

It was a glittering affair at the Oude Libertas Amphitheatre in Stellenbosch on Sunday, 26 March, when the winners of the 58th Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards were announced. The event was one of many celebrating World Theatre Day globally on the 27th of March.  

The Distell Group and Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards panel have announced the anticipated list of nominees in contention for the prestigious awards which reward outstanding work in the theatre industry annually. 

OK, so you don’t go to see CINDERELLA for the plot. What you do want to see is all of the gorgeous costumes, the brilliant set and the dancing to an incredible score. If you pick the right performance, you also get the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra playing live as the dancers move on stage. It all comes together in quite a magical moment.

International Guest Artists Vadim Muntagirov, Principal of The Royal Ballet, and Tatiana Melnik, Principal of the Hungarian National Ballet, will perform in Cape Town City Ballet's spectacular production of Veronica Paeper's CINDERELLA for three performances only, accompanied by Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO).

STAR+CROSSED follows the interwoven tale of Billy and Bess. Bess, who is based on Elizabeth Klarer, meets Billy one evening on Flying Saucer Hill in the Natal Midlands. The two children form a connection that spans nine decades, from 1910 until 1994. Billy and Bess' stories are intertwined but also juxtaposed by one another.

On Sunday 27 March - World Theatre Day - the 57th edition of the FLEUR DU CAP THEATRE AWARDS took place at Nederburg in Paarl. It was definitely a night to remember as Cape Town's theatre makers came out in force to celebrate after being locked down for two years.

The 57th Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards ceremony will see theatre makers celebrating excellence in theatre in a gala presentation later this month.

New dates have been announced for Cape Town City Ballet's production of Veronica Paeper's A CHRISTMAS CAROL – THE STORY OF SCROOGE.

Following a sold-out run and critical acclaim, Cape Town City Ballet's sumptuous production of Veronica Paeper's A CHRISTMAS CAROL – THE STORY OF SCROOGE returns to Artscape this month.

Cape Town City Ballet will present the South African premiere of Mthuthuzeli November’s Olivier Award-winning INGOMA as part of its Autumn Season from 19 May at Artscape. The performances in the Artscape Opera House will be strictly limited to 250 seats due to social distancing. 

The Playhouse Company presents Cape Town City Ballet Back On Stage from the 27th to the 28th of March 2021 in the Playhouse Opera Theatre.

Cape Town City Ballet returns to the Artscape Opera House for four performances only in March. Due to social distancing requirements, only 100 seats will be available for each performance. 

With the closure of theatres world-wide due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the performing arts sector has suffered a severe setback.  This unexpected ‘downtime’ has not deterred Abrahamse & Meyer, Tally Ho! and the Waterfront Theatre School, who have utilised this temporary hiatus to join artistic forces and develop an original musical titled, HISTORY GIRLS.
