Fraser Entertainment Group's AN EVENING OF CLASSIC BROADWAY will be back at LA's Rockwell Table and Stage with another new cast of performers. The celebration of the Broadway Songbook will take place on Sunday, July 21st at 8PM (doors open at 6:30).

Court Theatre, under the continuing leadership of Charles Newell, Marilyn F. Vitale Artistic Director, and Angel Ysaguirre, Executive Director, has announced casting for August Wilson's King Hedley II, directed by Resident Artist Ron OJ Parson. King Hedley II runs September 12 - October 13, 2019 at Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ellis Ave. The press opening is Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 7:30pm.

Florida Studio Theatre (FST) presents the regional premiere of Sandy Rustin's The Cottage, a ridiculous-and potentially murderous-comedy about the ins and outs of marriage and infidelity.

The top growing current Broadway musicals were Hadestown (4.42%), Beetlejuice (3.73%), Oklahoma! (2.64%), Ain't Too Proud (1.53%) and The Prom (1.44%). The top growing current Broadway plays were Burn This (1.81%), What The Constitution Means to Me (1.17%), Frankie and Johnny (1.17%), To Kill A Mockingbird (0.41%) and Cursed Child (0.06%).

California Shakespeare Theater continues its 2019 summer season with the world premiere of House of Joy by Madhuri Shekar as part of their New Classics Initiative; playing August 14 through September 1, 2019 at the Bruns Amphitheater. A Pay What You Can performance will be held on Wednesday, August 14. 

The Dramatists Guild of America is has announced the co-recipients of the 2019 Lanford Wilson Award are Abe Koogler and Charly Evon Simpson. Their awards will be presented at the Guild's annual awards ceremony on Monday, July 29, 2019, at the American Airlines Theatre's Penthouse Lobby in New York.

T. Fellowship, in association with Columbia University School of the Arts, announces the next T. Fellow is Ben Holtzman, the eighth fellow in the one?year program designed to educate and empower new creative producers. The fellow will receive a stipend of $10,000 with a $20,000 budget for the development of a new theatrical production, and will have access to courses in Columbia's MFA Theatre Management & Producing Program.

This fall, Lincoln Center TheaterLCT3 will produce the world premiere of POWER STRIP, a new play by Sylvia Khoury, directed by Tyne Rafaeli, which will begin performances Saturday, October 5 and run for six weeks only through Sunday, November 17 at the Claire Tow Theater (150 West 65 Street). Opening night is Monday, October 21.

The top growing current Broadway musicals were Oklahoma! (4.36%), Hadestown (3.47%), Beetlejuice (3.32%), Pretty Woman (2.51%) and Ain't Too Proud (2.05%). The top growing current Broadway plays were Frankie and Johnny (2.24%), Burn This (1.37%), What The Constitution Means to Me (1.34%), The Ferryman (1.28%) and To Kill A Mockingbird(0.42%).

New Perspectives Theatre Company (NPTC) is pleased to announce their 2019 Playwriting and Directing Fellows, for the 11th Annual Women's Work Short Play LAB.

Pasadena Playhouse, the State Theater of California, is pleased to announce that casting is complete for the Los Angeles premiere of Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's Good Boys starring Betsy Brandt (CBS' Life in Pieces, and AMC's Breaking Bad) as Elizabeth Hardy, and directed by Carolyn Cantor on the mainstage of Pasadena Playhouse. The production will play June 26 through Sunday July 21; the press opening is June 30 at 5:00pm. 

Bay Street Theater is pleased to announce the World Premiere of SAFE SPACE begins tomorrow, June 25, and runs through July 21. This is a new play by Alan Fox; directed by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien (All My Sons, Henry IV, Hairspray, The Coast of Utopia).

Florida Studio Theatre (FST) announces that the theatre has commissioned four accomplished playwrights, each for $10,000, to write brand new plays that share women's voices and address voting rights of the past, present, and future. These commissions are the first installments of FST's The Suffragist Project, a community-wide artistic celebration of the 100th anniversary of women's right to vote.

John M. 'Jack' Allison, prestigious theater teacher and director in the United States, Canada, and Europe, died peacefully at the age of 78 on June 16, 2019 in East Northport, New York. Born in Bayonne, New Jersey, he graduated from New Jersey City University with a BA in American Literature and History before earning an MA in Speech and Drama from The Catholic University of America, and a PhD (ABD) in Theatre and Directing from the University of Denver.

Lovers of new theatre will gather this August for an advance look at tomorrow's hits at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley's 2019 New Works Festival at Palo Alto's Lucie Stern Theatre. This unique festival offers audiences an extraordinary opportunity to experience new plays and musicals in their early stages of development, and hear about the creative process in a "Meet the Artists" panel discussion. With multiple performances of each work, playwrights and composers are able to revise and refine their shows during the festival, allowing audiences to view the exciting evolution of brand new pieces of theatre. The popular festival runs August 9 - 18, 2019 at the Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Rd., Palo Alto. FX today announced the cast that will star in the pilot for Gone Hollywood. Set in 1980, Gone Hollywood centers on a group of talent agents who defect from an old-guard percentery to found their own, which skyrockets to industry dominance, disrupting the business and changing movies forever. The show will mix its fictional protagonists with real-life entertainment figures and events.
