Rubicon Theatre Company has announced the launch of its new special event series, “VENTURA LIVE! Music, Laughter and Magic,” featuring one-night and short-run concerts, jam sessions, new play readings, magic nights, comedy, and much more.
This retro retelling of the Cinderella story whisks us back to the sun-kissed days and lava lamp lit nights of 1976 with an original musical score that blends the sounds of disco rhythms and Broadway musical magic.
The original musical comedy is resonating with, and reaching audiences of all ages across Los Angeles. The live band fills the beautiful Burbank theatre with a funky 1970s sound, the songs show off stunning vocals from the dazzling cast. The show stars Christopher De'Vonte Baker, Jasiana Caraballo, Malynda Hale, Hayden Kharrazi, and Abigail Kate Thomas.
Next up at the Garry Marshall Theatre, Lori Marshall and Joseph Leo Bwarie’s Cindy & The Disco Ball opening October 7, 2022. Joe co-directs (with Christine Lakin) the cast of Christopher Baker, Jasiana Caraballo, Malynda Hale, Hayden Kharrazi and Abigail Kate Thomas.
Cindy & The Disco Ball: The Musical is set to kick off GMT's live, indoor season with a superfly Cinderella story. So break out the bell-bottoms and platform shoes because Garry Marshall Theatre is gettin' down with the boogie!
The Troubies’ Holidaze show SANTA CLAUS IS COMIN’ TO MOTOWN will open at the Garry Marshall Theatre November 23, 2021. Troubies’ artistic director Matt Walker directs the talented cast of veteran Troubies with some Noubies. Jaeger Christian examines the effect a decade of overseas wars have had on today's twenty somethings in his new musical WE CAN BE ONE: A Musical About Coming Home which will premiere at the Hollywood Fringe Festival in June. It is the story of two couples, each with its own set of unique challenges, who must confront the promise and heavy burden of 'coming home.'

The production will star Charlo Crossley (THE COLOR PURPLE, HAIRSPRAY), Michael Shepperd, Candice Nicole, Jay Donnell, Justin Michael Wilcox, Harrison White, and Susan Grace and will feature Donald Webber, Jr., Eve Sigall, Theresa Ford, Siri Lorece, Jayme Lake, Christian Campbell, Harrison White, Malynda Hale, Joe Hart, Noel Orput, Terrance A. Thomas, Blesst Bowden, and Ashley Arnold.

Last night, March 15, the stars came out to celebrate 64 years of Liza Minnelli, who turned 64 on March 12, 2010. Friends such as Parker Posey, Joel Grey and Billy Stritch celebrated with a night of performances honoring Liza, one of theater's all-time greats. Minnelli herself took the stage at the end of the evening.
