In Broadway by Design, BroadwayWorld is shining a spotlight on the stellar designs of this Broadway season, show by show. Today, we continue the series with Christine Jones & Brett Banakis and Bob Mackie, who acted as scenic and costume designers for the Broadway musical we all believe in, The Cher Show.

Regent's Park Theatre have today announced principal casting for their productions of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita and Jesus Christ Superstar, alongside the full creative team for Evita.

According to The Stage, an upcoming production of Evita, at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, is looking to cast the first Eva Peron of color.

GLAAD, the world's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization, announced today that actor and performer Shangela will host the 30th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York, while CNN news anchor Anderson Cooper will present the Advocate For Change Award to previously announced honoree Madonna, on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the New York Hilton Midtown. Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actress Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), model and activist Winnie Harlow, multiple Emmy and GLAAD Media Award-winning director and producer Ryan Murphy (“Pose”) will join previously announced special guests Samantha Bee (“Full Frontal”), CNN's Don Lemon, and the cast of FX's “Pose,” including 2017 GLAAD honoree Billy Porter. GLAAD previously announced that Sarah Jessica Parker will present the Vito Russo Award to Andy Cohen.

With less than a month to go until AMP Lost & Found returns for its fifth edition on 2-5th May, Annie Mac's Malta festival has now confirmed line-ups for the unique castle rave and boat parties.

Voyage Theater Company/PARTS UNKNOWN Play Reading Series will present a staged reading of Republic of Georgia by Georgian playwright/novelist Dato Turashvili, translated by Madonna Tkhelidze, directed by Adam Knight, at the 53rd Street New York Public Library (18 West 53rd Street, across the street from MoMA), Thu April 18 at 7pm. Admission is FREE and open to the public, but reservations are highly encouraged. Please RSVP here. The performance will run approximately 60 minutes with no intermission. There will be a brief talkback with the playwright and director immediately following the reading.

Now over 20 million albums into their career, there can be no doubt as to why The B-52s remain one of rock music's most beloved and enduring bands. As The B-52s continue to celebrate their 40th Anniversary, the band announced a world-wide tour today that is expected to cover more than 10 countries and will include a headlining North American summer tour, including a stop at the Majestic Theatre (224 E. Houston St.) in San Antonio, TX on August 21, 2019 at 7PM. Special guests OMD and Berlin will open the show. Tickets go on sale this Friday, April 12 at NOON.

BroadwayWorld has learned that Susan Stroman (currently working on Marie, Dancing Still in Seattle) will stage DreamWorks' Kung Fu Panda Spectacular Live at the Venetian Theatre in Macau, a leading destination resort in Asia.

The McCallum Theatre announced today its new lineup for the 2019-2020 season, continuing to present the finest world-class artists and entertainers for Coachella Valley audiences.  The new season includes McCallum debuts, returning favorites, iconic superstars, family-friendly entertainment and holiday cheer, among so much more. A CHRISTMAS STORY, WAITRESS and THE PLAY THAT GOES WORING are among the many Broadway offerings in what looks to be the most stellar season in McCallum history.

Today, Cage The Elephant releases a brand new song entitled 'Goodbye.' The song was played this morning on Zane Lowe's Beats1 show. The track follows up their recently released collaboration with Beck, 'Night Running,' the song 'House of Glass,' and their single 'Ready To Let Go.' 'Ready To Let Go' currently tops Billboard's Alternative radio chart. All four tracks appear on their forthcoming fifth studio album, Social Cues, out April 19th on RCA Records.
