The World Premiere of Alexandre Rockwell’s The Projectionist has been selected as the Opening Night selection for the 32nd edition of Slamdance Film Festival.

Twelfth Night:  It marks the end of Christmas and in Shakespeare’s day it was celebrated with great festivity—cakes and ale, wassailing and singing, merriment abounding.  A very good time was had by all.

The 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards were held virtually last night, and hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.

The second season of Film Independent Presents at The Wallis kicks off with a signature Live Read event featuring Cameron Crowe's 1992 classic Singles, directed by award-winning filmmaker James Ponsoldt, making his Live Read debut, on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, 7:30 pm, in The Wallis' Bram Goldsmith Theater. The cast includes Jay Duplass (Jeff Who Lives at Home, The Puffy Chair), Kelly Marie Tran (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Lynn Shelton (Humpday, Your Sister's Sister), Mamoudou Athie (The Circle, The Frontrunner) and more to be announced.

Slamdance today announced the winners of its 2019 screenwriting competition, awarding its Grand Prize to writers Tamra Teig and Michael Lipoma for their feature screenplay “The Fall.” Additional prizes were awarded during a ceremony hosted by Writers Guild of America West across feature film, horror/thriller, TV pilot and short film categories. Slamdance awarded more​ than $16,000 to winners across all categories. 

According to Variety, stage and screen star Anika Noni Rose will guest star in two episodes of Hulu's upcoming adaptation of Little Fires Everywhere. She will play Paula Hawthorne, a  'renowned photographer and art professor in New York who becomes a mentor to Mia when she is young.'

Hulu's Little Fires Everywhere has found its young Elena and Mia for its flashback episode.

This morning, Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington debuted the first look at Little Fires Everywhere on their social media handles.

Recently launched sales and distribution company Utopia has acquired the world rights to the father-daughter drama MICKEY AND THE BEAR. The company plans to give the film a Fall theatrical release timed to awards season.

The Suncoast Credit Union Gasparilla International Film Festival (GIFF) is proud to announce the dynamic 2018 Feature Film Competition Lineup. The festival includes 35 U.S., international and documentary features, as well as other programming, to kick-off its 12th festival season. GIFF will begin on Tuesday, March 20th with the opening night musical/drama, Stuck, starring Giancarlo Esposito, Amy Madigan and Ashanti. 

The 33rd Film Independent Spirit Award ceremony aired live on IFC on Saturday, March 3 at 2:00 pm PT/5:00 pm ET. Nick Kroll and John Mulaney returned to host the event.
