With characters ranging from the Cat in the Hat to Who Fish to Yertle the Turtle and others, the award-winning musical Seussical is a crowd-pleaser for all ages. Seussical, with music by Stephen Flaherty, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and based on the book by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, will be presented by South Coast Repertory's Theatre Conservatory Summer Players.
I congratulate Everyman Theatre for presenting their initial Summer Cabaret which includes the stars from their wonderful production of LOS OTROS, Judy McLane and Philip Hernandez. The event will be at Everyman's intimate rehearsal hall Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.

Eight outstanding educators from schools and performing arts centers around the U.S. will work one-on-one with Broadway greats at the 9th Annual FREDDIE G FELLOWSHIP July 11th - 14th. The event has once again been underwritten by Myrna and Freddie ("G") Gershon, Co-Chairman of the global theatrical licensor Music Theatre International (MTI). The four days of classes and activities honor instructors and teachers who are working to make a difference for their students and communities through the process of staging musical theatre productions in their schools and educational theatre groups. In addition to the all-expense paid visit to New York, each of the teachers' schools receives $5,000 from Freddie and Myrna. The teachers are empowered to identify and select how their respective school's theatre program can best utilize the funds.
Summer Theatre Arts Rendezvous (STAR), Perseverance Theatre's five-week youth acting program, provides theatrical training and performance opportunities to students aged 10-18 who are excited about theatre. In addition to rehearsals, STAR participants take daily workshops on voice, movement and acting technique, culminating in three fully produced shows that are perfect summer entertainment for the whole family: Once on This Island Jr, As You Like It, and an original piece, Extreme Theatre! Performances run between July 20 and July 29.
The Tony-winning production of Once On This Island just welcomed Darlesia Cearcy, who replaces Lea Salonga as Erzulie, as well as Merle Dandridge, who returns to the production to play Papa Ge. Check out a first look at the duo in action below!

Yesterday, June 19, Actors' Equity Association, the labor union for professional stage actors and stage managers, presented the 2018 Advisory Committee on Chorus Affairs (ACCA) Award to the chorus of Once on This Island. The award, established in 2007, is given to what the committee votes on as the outstanding Broadway chorus of the season.

Venice Theatre is once again turning its Pinkerton Theatre into Pinky's Cabaret for the sixth annual Summer Cabaret Festival with 20 different productions featuring some of the best cabaret acts in the state of Florida.
