Building on the success of the 2020 Day of Musical Action last June, Kaufman Music Center will hold a Week of Musical Action from March 14-18, 2021. More than 140 performers from the KMC community will come together during this multi-day music marathon to share music and support our programs. The event provides students, parents, faculty, staff and donors with the opportunity to raise funds to support KMC’s programs while also fostering a sense of community engagement.

On November 11, the Kaufman Music Center (KMC) Board of Trustees voted to elect the world-renowned pianist and educator Orli Shaham as Chair. Ms. Shaham has been involved with KMC for nearly 25 years as both a performer at Merkin Hall and a parent of students at the Center's Special Music School and Lucy Moses School. Shahriar Rafimayeri, Chief Information Officer and member of the Executive Committee for Mimecast Ltd, was elected President.
Garrick Ohlsson To Live Stream 3/14 Concert From 92Y

In lieu of Garrick Ohlsson's originally-scheduled Brahms program with Takács Quartet tomorrow evening (3/14) at 8 pm, Ohlsson will perform a solo recital to be live streamed from 92Y's Kaufmann Concert Hall, without an audience.
March at Kaufman Music Center Will Present FACE THE MUSIC + JACK Quartet

On Tuesday, March 31 (8 pm), JACK Quartet joins forces with the intrepid teen musicians of Face the Music to perform a progam titled Critical Mass, featuring world premieres by three early-career composers - inti figgis-vizueta, Elliot Reed, and Olivia Shortt - from the inaugural JACK Studio commissioning project. The concert will take place at Roulette, 509 Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn. Tickets are $15 online or $20 at the door, available in advance at roulette.org.
Kaufman Music Center Announces Ecstatic Music Series Lineup

In February, Kaufman Music Center's Ecstatic Music series presents one of its most eagerly-awaited programs: an evening with acclaimed composer/performers Missy Mazzoli and Kelly Moran (February 29), who will perform solo sets with piano, keyboards, and electronics, and give the world premiere of Mazzoli's The Night Ahead and No Real Fate. Violinist Olivia De Prato (Mivos Quartet) will join Mazzoli on selected pieces. This concert at Merkin Hall is part of Ecstatic Music's 10th anniversary season, and a New Sounds Live co-presentation, hosted by John Schaefer and streamed live at newsounds.org.
