The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has announced the winners of the 2022 Yugo BAFTA Student Awards during a two-night ceremony on July 21 and July 22 at Harmony Gold in Los Angeles. The ceremony followed several weeks of virtual panels and meetings for the finalists. 

Yale Repertory Theatre will conclude its 2022 season with Between Two Knees. The play, written by the intertribal sketch comedy troupe The 1491s and directed by Eric Ting, is presented with Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Between Two Knees will be performed May 12–June 4 at Yale Repertory Theatre (1120 Chapel Street).

Playwright and screenwriter Lucy Alibar has signed with CAA for representation, Deadline reports. Alibar is best known for her Sundance Grand Jury Prize winning film Beasts of the Southern Wild in 2012.

Round House Theatre is continuing its 2020-2021 Virtual Season with Throw Me on the Burnpile and Light Me Up by Oscar-nominated Beasts of the Southern Wild writer Lucy Alibar. Directed by Round House Artistic Director Ryan Rilette and starring Beth Hylton, Throw Me on the Burnpile and Light Me Up is streaming online May 3 – May 30, 2021.

In the most trying of times, the Round House Theatre has managed to put together a pretty remarkable season, entirely online but leaning on one-person showcases that eliminated the need of distancing among cast members.

The Spring 2021 Season offers three moving, one-person performances: Colman Domingo’s A Boy and His Soul, directed by Craig Wallace; Lucy Alibar’s Throw Me on the Burnpile and Light Me Up, directed by Round House Artistic Director Ryan Rilette; and Young Jean Lee’s We’re Gonna Die, directed by Paige Hernandez.

Fifteen emerging storytellers from Chile, India, Kenya, Tunisia and the U.S. will convene digitally for Sundance Institute’s January Screenwriters Lab, taking place online via Sundance Co//ab from January 11 -15, 2021. The Fellows will work to further develop twelve original projects, in collaboration with an experienced group of Creative Advisors.
