THE PERFECT GAME: A SLAM DUNK NEW MUSICAL will make its Off-Broadway Premiere this January for a limited engagement this month.

Avant Bard has collaborated with A Simple Herstory to bring an award-winning theatrical podcast series to the stage during the FREE Theatre Week Kickoff Fest at Arena Stage on Saturday, September 23rd.

A Simple Herstory is a theatrical and high concept podcast series about the women who have run for President of the United States. The series is produced by The Muse Project and presented by The Tank.

The Tank announced today the full line up for Lime Fest, which will present 20 performances between Saturday August 14– Saturday August 28, 2021. The Tank’s LimeFest celebrates a dozen new works by over 80 emerging artists who identify as women, nonbinary or gender non-conforming to make way for more gender parity in the performing arts.

The Friars archives and Wikipedia have finally been corrected. Nineteen Eighty Eight was a watershed year for women. They gained membership to numerous private men's clubs that heretofore were off limits to women. The Friars, being one of the more famous of the bunch had an article heralding the event written by a less than factual reporter for The New York Times. The paper of record, in an early forerunner of fake news only listed the first 7 women and overlooked number 8...Jamie deRoy who was in that initial group, along with Liza Minnelli, Joan Rivers, Brooke Shields, and other prominent female entertainment figures was not mentioned.

For two glittering weekends at the end of May, the world turns its attention to the movie event of the year: TheCaan Film Festival at Museum of the Moving Image. Robert X. Modica, acting teacher to Broadway greats, passed away late Saturday, March 14th, 2015. He was 83. A memorial to celebrate Modica's life and legacy will be held today, April 8th, 2016 at The Players, 16 Gramercy Park South in Manhattan.
