Broadway In Chicago has announced that Illinois Governor Pat Quinn and the Illinois State Legislature have received the distinguished 2013 STAR OF TOURING BROADWAY AWARD at the annual Broadway League Awards today, May 15,2013, honoring excellence and achievement for Touring Broadway.

The League of Chicago Theatres announces 16th Street Theater as the recipient of the 2013 Broadway In Chicago Emerging Theater Award. 16th Street Theater will receive a $5,000 award, consultation with Broadway In Chicago staff members, and a marketing package that includes advertising support.

Broadway In Chicago has announced TO MASTER THE ART by William Brown and Doug Frew, directed by William Brown will play the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place (175 E. Good news for producers everywhere: according to a report in Time Out Chicago, a new tax credit just signed into Illinois law on December 16, 2011 will make producing theater in The Windy City more economical than ever. As explained in Time Out Chicago, the 'Live Theatre Production Tax Credit...allows for up to $2 million in incentives to for-profit live-theater presenters that could give Illinois a competitive leg up on other states in attracting and keeping more pre-Broadway and long-run shows such as The Addams Family and Jersey Boys. The legislation also aims to create and retain theater jobs. Presenters can apply for the credit at the end of the tax year with the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, which may award credits worth up to 20 percent of their spending in Illinois.'

This newly-established chapter of the National High School Musical Theater Awards will serve as an annual celebration of outstanding achievement in musical theater performance by high schools.

Broadway In Chicago is thrilled to announce the return engagement of WICKED this fall, beginning Wednesday, December 1, 2010. The most successful show in Chicago history makes its triumphant return to the Cadillac Palace Theatre (151 W. Randolph) for eight weeks only, December 1, 2010 to January 23, 2011.
