Lifeline Theatre presents The Man Who Was Thursday, adapted by Lifeline Theatre ensemble member Bilal Dardai and directed by Jess Hutchinson. Dardai and Hutchinson return to this 1908 satire after having first mounted it at New Leaf Theatre, where Hutchinson was the Artistic Director, in 2009 (Non-Equity Jeff nomination: New Adaptation) to re-explore this absurdist tale of identity and intrigue for a new decade.

Babes With Blades Theatre Company (BWBTC) starts its 21st Season with the world premiere of The Lady Demands Satisfaction, playing at City Lit Theater, 1020 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., July 21 - August 25.  Winner of the most recent Joining Sword and Pen Competition, and developed in 2017-18 through BWBTC's Fighting Words Program, this play is written by Arthur M. Jolly, directed by Babes With Blades Theater Company Member Morgan Manasa with combat by Violence Designer and BWBTC Member Samantha Kaufman.  Preview performances are Saturday, July 21 at 8 p.m., Sunday, July 22 at 3 p.m., Thursday, July 26 at 8 p.m. and Friday, July 27 at 8 p.m. Opening Night is Saturday, July 28 at 8 p.m. Regular performances are Thursdays - Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Preview tickets are $10, student and senior tickets are $15 and general admission are $25. Full casting was announced today for City Lit's season opener, George Bernard Shaw's comedy ARMS AND THE MAN. Set during the 1885 Serbo-Bulgarian war, it satirizes the folly of armed conflict. City Lit's production will be directed by Brian Pastor, Artistic Director of Promethean Theatre Ensemble and director of City Lit's fall 2017 production of J.B.

Barrel of Monkeys presents THAT'S WEIRD, GRANDMA: Stories About Food, featuring a side-splitting lineup of food-related sketches adapted from stories written by Chicago elementary school students. Barrel of Monkeys' professional actors and musicians explore students' favorite dishes and culinary traditions - whether on Earth, in space or from a magical land. Former Artistic Director Joseph Schupbach returns to guest direct this delicious revue, which plays Mondays at 8 pm from July 23 - August 27, 2018 at the Neo-Futurist Theater, 5153 N. Full cast and crew have been announced for City Lit's world premiere translation of Aeschylus's theatrically boldest tragedy, PROMETHEUS BOUND, which will begin previews April 27, 2018 and open to the press on Sunday, May 6. This new translation was commissioned by City Lit from Nicholas Rudall, Founding Artistic Director of Court Theater and internationally acclaimed award-winning translator of Greek drama.

Barrel of Monkeys celebrates its 20th anniversary of arts education in Chicago Public Schools with a special one-night-only event: KIDS WRITE IT: 20 YEARS OF INTERGENERATIONAL STORYTELLING, featuring student-written stories from each of its 20 years, performed by the company's talented team of actor-educators, directed by Artistic Director Joseph Schupbach and co-directed by Co-Founder/Former Artistic Director Halena Kays. KIDS WRITE IT will be held on Thursday, July 27 at 7:30 pm at The Athenaeum Theatre Main Stage, 2936 N.
