Tony Winner Stephen Dillane Stars in Lincoln Center's FOUR QUARTETS, 12/2 & 12/3

This December, Lincoln Center's Great Performers series will present Tony Award-winning actor Stephen Dillane in two unique performances directed by Katie Mitchell that are based on the relationship between music and literature. Just added to the series, Mr. Dillane performs T.S. Eliot's Four Quartets, followed by the Miró Quartet's interpretation of Beethoven's late String Quartet in A minor, Op.132, which originally inspired the poet's timeless texts. Four Quartets, which originated at the Donmar Warehouse in London in January 2009, will be performed December 2 and 3 only at Baryshnikov Arts Center.

STIFTERS DINGE By Heiner Goebbels Makes U.S. Premiere 12/16-20 At Park Avenue Armory

Stifters Dinge, created by the innovative German composer/director Heiner Goebbels, is the latest of his works to stretch the boundaries of live performance. The 70-minute-long sonic performance landscape was inspired by the writings of 19th-century Austrian romantic novelist Adalbert Stifter extended and minutely-detailed descriptions of nature. The title translates as 'Stifters Things.'

Lincoln Center Holds 50th Anniversary Exhibit Of Rarely-Seen List Posters 6/1-21

Lincoln Center begins a year long celebration of its 50th Anniversary season in May 2009, commemorating the 1959 groundbreaking of the world's leading performing arts center. To salute the institution's historic milestone, Lincoln Center at Time Warner Center, a special 50th Anniversary exhibit of approximately thirty rarely-seen works from Lincoln Center's distinguished List Poster and Print Collection, is scheduled to be displayed on the second floor public gallery space at Time Warner Center, June 1 - 21.

On the morning of May 11, 2009, 50 years after that momentous occasion, Lincoln Center will begin a year-long celebration of its 50th anniversary with a special ceremony in the newly-transformed Alice Tully Hall. New York Philharmonic Music Director Alan Gilbert, acclaimed violinist Itzhak Perlman with alumni from The Perlman Music Program, Tony Award-winning opera star Paulo Szot, jazz icon Wynton Marsalis with members of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, and The Juilliard Orchestra are among those scheduled to perform in a program that celebrates the past 50 years and looks to the next generation of Lincoln Center's artists and audiences. In the audience of this private event will be elected officials, performing artists, civic and community representatives, and leaders from all 12 Lincoln Center resident organizations.

Lincoln Center Announces Series of Events Surrounding 50th Anniversary Celebration

Lincoln Center announced today an exciting series of artistic and educational events and initiatives to celebrate its forthcoming 50th anniversary, officially beginning with a ceremony to commemorate the institution's original groundbreaking in 1959 and ending with a campus-wide open house. The anniversary celebration coincides with the physical transformation of Lincoln Center, designed to make the campus a more open, accessible and vibrant urban destination. Ribbon cuttings will be held throughout the year as redevelopment projects are completed.

New York State Theatre to be Re-Named for David H. Koch

New York City Ballet and New York City Opera today announced that their companies' shared home at Lincoln Center will be renamed the David H. Koch Theater, in honor of Mr. Koch's $100 million lead gift to the Ballet and Opera's joint capital campaign for the New York State Theater.

Lincoln Center Gives Weilerstein and Kail Segal Award

The 2008 Martin E. Segal Awards were presented to cellist Alisa Weilerstein and director Thomas Kail at a luncheon at Lincoln Center's Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse on Tuesday, March 18.
