Heiner Goebbels Returns To Park Avenue Armory With North American Premiere

Transforming Park Avenue Armory's Wade Thompson Drill Hall into an apocalyptic wasteland, visionary director and composer Heiner Goebbels returns to Park Avenue Armory with the North American premiere of Everything That Happened and Would Happen, marking Goebbels' third collaboration with the institution over the last 10 years.

New Juilliard Ensemble, Led By Joel Sachs, Performs Contemporary Works On April 1

The New Juilliard Ensemble (NJE), led by founder and director Joel Sachs, performs world premieres by Juilliard alumnus Ross S. Griffey and current student Sato Matsui alongside works by Polish composer Zygmunt Krauze, and Finnish composer and Juilliard alumnus Jukka Tiensuu on Monday, April 1, 2019, at 7:30pm in Alice Tully Hall.

Brooklyn's AOP To Select Composers, Librettists For Two Years Of Free Training In The Fundamentals Of Opera

American Opera Projects (AOP) announces the return of its popular Composers & the Voice program for its 2019-21 seasons. Created and led by Composers & the Voice Artistic Director Steven Osgood, six composers and up to three librettists will be selected for two-year fellowships to learn the fundamentals of writing for the voice and opera stage. Workshop sessions with professional opera singers, mentors, and instructors are held at AOP's home base in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Applications and complete information will be available beginning March 18 at www.aopopera.org/composers_voice. The deadline for applications is April 26 with fellowships announced by July 16.

Full Cast And Creative Team Announced For JUBILEE At Arena Stage

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announces the full company for the world premiere of Tazewell Thompson's inspirational a cappella music infused play, Jubilee. Inspired by the world-renowned Fisk Jubilee Singers, this uplifting new work chronicles the bold African American ensemble as they travel the world, captivating kings, queens and audiences with hymns and spiritual songs supported by their rich voices. Written and directed by Thompson with vocal arrangements and music direction by Dianne Adams McDowell, Jubilee runs April 26 - June 2, 2019 in the Kreeger Theater.

Noche Flamenca Adds New Works to ENTRE TU Y YO

Noche Flamenca, the renowned company founded by Artistic Director Mart n Santangelo and dancer Soledad Barrio, continues, has added Refugiados ( Refugees ), created from poems by children in refugee camps, to Entre Tu y Yo (Between You and Me), the evening-length program of duets, solos, and ensemble works Noche Flamenca performs at New York City's Connelly Theater, March 8-31. To develop Refugiados first created 15 years ago, and further developed for the engagement at the Connelly Santangelo and the company took the children's poems, translated them to Spanish, and set them to song and dance.

THE LEHMAN TRILOGY Will Make North American Premiere At Park Avenue Armory

In March 2019, Park Avenue Armory - in collaboration with the National Theatre and Neal Street Productions - will present the North American premiere of The Lehman Trilogy. Told in three parts in a single evening, the production will unfold in the soaring 55,000-square-foot Wade Thompson Drill Hall from March 22 through April 20, 2019 in a strictly limited engagement. Directed by Sam Mendes, The Lehman Trilogy weaves through nearly two centuries of Lehman lineage, following the brothers Henry, Emanuel, and Mayer Lehman from their 1844 arrival in New York City to the 2008 collapse of the financial firm bearing their name. Adam Godley, Ben Miles, and Simon Russell Beale play the Lehman brothers, and a cast of characters including their sons and grandsons. As the inaugural production of the 2019 season, The Lehman Trilogy builds on the Armory's history of presenting bold and engaging theater productions that explore the unexpected possibilities of the cross-genre cultural institution.

French Institute Alliance Francaise Presents Isabelle Huppert

The French Institute Alliance Française celebrates the career of Isabelle Huppertpresenting a special evening with the iconic French actress and a CinéSalon series devoted to her on-screen work from March 5 to April 23. The programs coincide with Huppert's starring run in Florian Zeller's The Mother at the Atlantic Theater Company from February 20 to April 7. Tickets are available at fiaf.org.

Noche Flamenca comes to New York City's Connelly Theater with Entre T y Yo (Between You and Me), an evening-length program of duets, solos, and ensemble works exploring the constraints imposed and the possibilities afforded by human relationships.

LITTLE KNOWN FACTS LIVE Podcast Series Returns to Atlantic Theater Company This Spring

Atlantic Theater Company is proud to announce that Little Known Facts at Atlantic, a live podcast hosted by Ilana Levine, will be returning as a full series this spring. Little Known Facts at Atlantic was originally presented as a one night only event featuring Atlantic Ensemble member Mary Steenburgen and Ted Danson. Following the first event's success, three additional live podcasts have been announced.

ANYTHING THAT GIVES OFF LIGHT To Play Joe¹s Pub In 2019

the TEAM (Rachel Chavkin, Artistic Director; Alexandra Lalonde, Producing Director) the award-winning Brooklyn theatre ensemble, will present Anything That Gives Off Light, a co-production with National Theatre of Scotland and Edinburgh International Festival, from March 14-30 at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street) with preceding runs at Virginia Tech and at Crossing Roots: A Rural-Urban Theatre Workshop presented by Cardinal Cross in Whitesburg, KY. Opening night at Joe's Pub is Saturday, March 16.

New York Choral Society Partners With The Angel Band Project For Virtual Choir Performance

The New York Choral Society (NYCHORAL) will join forces with the Angel Band Project's One Voice Virtual Choir on Monday, November 19, 2018, to perform Ruth Moody's One Voice as part of the opening for the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. NYCHORAL members led by Associate Conductor Michael Ciavaglia will sing alongside sexual violence survivors as well as the Angel Band Project's virtual choir. The opening will take place in the United Nations Trusteeship Council Chambers (on 1st Avenue between E. 42nd and E. 43rd Streets) from 10 am to 12:30 pm, with the performance slotted for 11:05 am. 

Works & Process at the Guggenheim Presents PETER AND THE WOLF with Isaac Mizrahi

Works & Process, the performing arts series at the Guggenheim, presents Sergei Prokofiev's charming children's classic Peter & the Wolf.Isaac Mizrahi narrates and directs as Brad Lubman (Dec 1-2) and Oliver Hagen (Dec 7-9) conduct Ensemble Signal and a cast wearing costumes by Mizrahi performs choreography by John Heginbotham, bringing the 30-minute story to life for the young and young at heart.

The Cleveland Orchestra's Presents ARIADNE AUF NAXOS

On January 13, 17 and 19 Franz Welser-Most and The Cleveland Orchestra continue an ongoing commitment to present opera at Severance Hall with a made-for-Cleveland production of Richard Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos which is being performed for the first time in the Orchestra's history. In his years as music director, Welser-Most has led The Cleveland Orchestra in performances of many orchestral works by Richard Strauss, as well as presentations of four other Strauss operas: Elektra (2004), Der Rosenkavalier (2007), Salome (2012), and Daphne (2015).

Target Margin Theater (Founding Artistic Director David Herskovits, Associate Artistic Director Moe Yousuf) is proud to present a remount of its acclaimed production, Pay No Attention to the Girl, for a limited three week run (October 25-November 11). New York Choral Society Commemorates Anniversary Of End Of WWI & Kristallnacht

Monday evening, November 12, 2018, 8 p.m., The New York Choral Society and Orchestra (NYCHORAL) will present its first program of the season, MY SHADOW AND MY LIGHT, under the baton of Music Director David Hayes at the Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall. In honor of Veterans Day and in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War and the 80th anniversary of Kristallnacht, Maestro Hayes has chosen a program that explores how three early 20th-century composers, two British and one American, created works expressing their deeply personal reactions to these profound moments in human history.

NY Public Library To Screen 'Dibukim' And Hold Gesher Theatre Panel

After an absence of five years and under the auspices of the Cherry Orchard Festival, Israel's acclaimed Gesher Theatre returns to New York in early October with its two leading productions The Dybbuk and In the Tunnel. On Today, October 2, just prior to the performances, Gesher Artistic Director Yevgeny Arye and company members invite the public to join them for a free screening on the making of Dibukim, a 60-minute film by Ram Loevy, winner of the honorable mention at the Haifa International Film Festival, which documents the production process of The Dybbuk and follows the creative team and actors during rehearsals. The screening will be followed by a 30-minute question and answer session with Yevgeny Arye and members of the company. This film is in Hebrew with English subtitles. More info & trailer.
