UNCLE VANYA Extends Through October 28th At Hunter Theater Project

The Hunter Theater Project at Hunter College (President, Jennifer J. Raab) announced a two-week extension today for the critically acclaimed New York premiere of Anton Chekhov's UNCLE VANYA, directed by Richard Nelson, at the Frederick Loewe Theater (E. 68th Street between Lexington and Park Ave). Translated by Richard Nelson, Richard Pevear, and Larissa Volokhonsky, and directed by Nelson, UNCLE VANYA began performances on Friday, September 7 and was originally scheduled to run through October 14.

Jackie Hoffman Brings MEMOIRCITA! to Feinstein's at the Nikko

Jackie Hoffman, star of stage and screen, will bring her new one-woman show, Memoircita!, to Feinstein's at the Nikko for two performances only-Today, September 21 (8 p.m.) and Saturday, September 22(8 p.m.). Best known for making a public spectacle of herself at the 2017 Emmy Awards, Jackie Hoffman continues her downward spiral in San Francisco. A veteran of Broadway musicals, this self-loathing scene stealer gives the inside dish on Broadway, filming "Feud: Bette and Joan," and all things Emmy.

NY Public Library To Screen 'Dibukim' And Hold Gesher Theatre Panel

After an absence of five years and under the auspices of the Cherry Orchard Festival, Israel's acclaimed Gesher Theatre returns to New York in early October with its two leading productions The Dybbuk and In the Tunnel. On Tuesday, October 2, just prior to the performances, Gesher Artistic Director Yevgeny Arye and company members invite the public to join them for a free screening on the making of Dibukim, a 60-minute film by Ram Loevy, winner of the honorable mention at the Haifa International Film Festival, which documents the production process of The Dybbuk and follows the creative team and actors during rehearsals. The screening will be followed by a 30-minute question and answer session with Yevgeny Arye and members of the company. This film is in Hebrew with English subtitles. More info & trailer.

THE LEHMAN TRILOGY Will Make its New York Premiere Next Year

According to The New York Times, The Lehman Trilogy, the play about the Lehman brothers, will arrive next year in New York. The show is currently running in the West End at the National Theatre through October 20.

Misty Copeland to Open 2018 Dance Magazine Awards

Misty Copeland will open the 61st annual Dance Magazine Awards. The evening will honor Ronald K. Brown, Lourdes Lopez(presented by Darren Walker), Crystal Pite, and Michael Trusnovec (presented by Patrick Corbin). A special Leadership Award will be presented to Nigel Redden. Since 1954 the Dance Magazine Awards have recognized outstanding men and women whose contributions have left a lasting impact on dance. This year's Awards will take place on Monday December 3, 2018 at The Ailey Citigroup Theater at 7:30pm.

The Cleveland Orchestra Receives Unexpected Gift Of $9.3 Million From The Estate Of Dr. Jean Hower Taber

The Cleveland Orchestra has announced that it is receiving a gift of $9.3 million from the estate of Dr. Jean Hower Taber (1922-2017). This extraordinary and generous gift was outlined in Dr. Taber's written estate plans, and revealed to the Orchestra only after her death. In addition to being a member of the Orchestra's Heritage Society, she gave generously to the Orchestra's annual fund every year and attended Cleveland Orchestra concerts regularly over the decades.

Eric Moe Announces New Album 'Uncanny Affable Machines'

Ask composer Eric Moe, whose work has been described by others as “music of winning exuberance” and “maximal minimalism,” to describe his music, and he writes, “Although the surfaces and genres are varied, my works share a concern for rhythmic propulsion and a disregard for stylistic orthodoxies.” Winner of numerous honors and awards, Moe is the Andrew W. Mellon Professor of Music at the University of Pittsburgh and founder of that city's Music on the Edge new music concert series.

Israel's Gesher Theatre Returns To NYC With Two New Productions

Maria Shclover and Irina Shabshis, Cherry Orchard Festival co-founders and producers, today announced Israel's celebrated Gesher Theatre will return to New York City in early October with its two leading productions The Dybbuk and In the Tunnel at The Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College (524 West 59 Street).  Founded in 1991 in Tel Aviv by director Yevgeny Arye, these Gesher Theatre productions are being presented as part of a North American tour, which includes performances in Toronto and Pittsburgh. Performances are October 3 and 4 for The Dybbuk and October 6 and 7 for In the Tunnel.

Hunter Theater Project Announces Richard Nelson's UNCLE VANYA

 Hunter College President Jennifer J. Raab announced today the inaugural production of the Hunter Theater Project, the New York premiere of Anton Chekhov's UNCLE VANYA at the Frederick Loewe Theater at Hunter College (E. 68th Street and Lexington Avenue), directed by Richard Nelson. Translated byRichard Nelson, Richard Pevear, and Larissa Volokhonsky. This production is the first time renowned Russian literature translators Pevear and Volokhonsky will have a work premiere in New York City, following the show's world premiere at The Old Globe in San Diego, California. Previews for UNCLE VANYA begin Friday, September 7. The production runs through Sunday, October 14, with an official press opening on Sunday, September 16. Tickets are on sale now.

Jackie Hoffman Will Come to Bay Street Theater

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is pleased to announce Jackie Hoffman: From Broadway to Bay Street Monday, July 2 at 8 pm as the first concert of the Music Mondays concert series on. Hoffman takes over Bay Street Theater for a night of show tunes, covers, original songs, and "kvetching on an operatic scale" (New York Times).
