Broadway Kids Care Teams With UNICEF for Annual Snowflake Lighting

Broadway Kids Care (BKC), the organization of theater kids for kids (and others), will perform festive holiday songs at the 2010 UNICEF Snowflake lighting ceremony on (Thursday, November 18) at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street in New York City.

On Monday, September 13, The Actors Fund hosted a party for 'The Friends of The Lillian Booth Actors Home' at Gloria Crest, in Englewood, NJ, the former estate of film legend Gloria Swanson and now the home of the evening's hosts Jan and Edward Turen. The Turens welcomed Tony Award-winning actor Brian Stokes Mitchell, and the evening's entertainment host Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress Bebe Neuwirth. Emmy and Tony Award winner Leslie Uggams, Tony Award-nominated actor/singer Tom Wopat and singer-songwriter-pianist Peter Cincotti and his band, among others performed. Photo Flash: Broadway Kids Care Deliver Holiday Goodies To Firemen & Policemen

On Wednesday, December 16th, representatives of Broadway Kids Care, Laurissa Romain and Toni Braun, began a new holiday tradition of delivering holiday treats and wishes to our New York City firemen and policemen, visiting the police station in Times Square and the firehouse on 48th and 8th.

Broadway Press Agent David Powers Dies at 88

David Powers, a Broadway press agent whose career spanned 40 years and dozens of Broadway shows died on October 5th at the Lillian Booth Actors Home in Englewood, New Jersey. He was 88 years old.

Susanna Foster, Singer-Actress, Star of Rains' 'PHANTOM', Passes Away at 84

Susanna Foster, who starred opposite Claude Rains as 'Christine' in the 1943 version of 'Phantom of the Opera,' has passed away. She was 84. Foster died Saturday at the Lillian Booth Actors Home in Englewood, N.J., publicist Dale Olson said. Foster made only a dozen movies but she was extremely popular in the early 1940s. A child prodigy, she got a contract with MGM at age 12 on the strength of her singing, then moved to Paramount, where at the age of 14 she made her movie debut in 1939's 'The Great Victor Herbert.' She moved to Universal, where she was 19 when she played the leading lady in 'Phantom' but she abruptly quit the film business in 1945 and a few years later married baritone Wilbur Evans. They divorced in 1956.

Photo Coverage: BROADWAY KIDS CARE Present the 'Knitting Project'

Broadway Kids Care (BKC), the organization of theater kids for kids (and others) will be donating scarves they've knit for their second annual 'Knitting Project', BroadwayWorld checked in with the talented young performers as they showed off their colorful creations! Their creations will be donated to the residents of the Lillian Booth Actors' Home as well as residents of Freedom House NYC, a New York City shelter for disabled women and children who are victims of domestic violence. The project will be ongoing through January 2009. 'Nothing is sadder than to see someone cold during this time of year,' said Gabby Malek, Chair of the Children's Committee. 'Broadway Kids Care wants to share some of the warmth from our hearts, by donating handmade scarves and collecting coats for those in need.' Later this winter, the children will also perform a special holiday concert at The Actors' Home, where they will be distributing the scarves.

Broadway Kids Care (BKC), the organization of theater kids for kids (and others), will appear on 'Good Morning America' on Monday, December 22, 2008 during the 8:30 a.m. half hour as part of GMA's ?Warm Coats & Warm Hearts' Drive.
