Holiday Inn at Dutch Apple Dinner Theater is probably a great choice for folks who love nostalgia, Hallmark movies, and Lawrence Welk. Enjoy it for what it is and you could have a good time.

Here's a fun fact about me: I have never played one of the Four Plaids, but I have been in many, many productions of Forever Plaid. There used to be a drawer in my house full of printed-out certificates and plaid-covered dental floss, tokens of my repeat apearances as the 'special audience volunteer' in productions of Forever Plaid across the last twenty years.

Girl groups have always been part of our culture. For me, it began watching The Andrews Sisters in old films, or sitting with my granny while she watched The Lawrence Welk Show, hoping that the Lennon Sisters would be on that week. The Faction of Fools Theatre Company specializes in the arcane form of the Italian Renaissance, commedia dell’arte, with elaborate masks, exaggerated movements and a kind of extreme reading of what often are classic texts. The troupe’s “Commedia Romeo and Juliet,” revived earlier this year, was a good example of that.

One 30-something-ish couple, Pam (Heather Joy) & Nick (Jacob Samples) has been trying; one older couple, Arlene (Sonia Reavis) & Alan (Michael Pacas) had an oops; and a couple of college juniors, songwriters Lizzy (Candace Coe) & Danny (Joseph Portoles) are our main characters The story follows each couple’s reactions, and wouldn’t you know it, the girls are all connected by an obstetrician (Jason Ayestas) and his nurse (Katrina Dixon) and the boys by …little league? I don’t know - some sports thing.

Award-winning singer Ann Kittredge's next CD, “Romantic Notions,' just came out this week on May 7th. On May 14th at Birdland, Ann will celebrate the CD's release by performing selections from it, including fresh, creative arrangements of classics by Billy Joel, Bob Dylan, and more. We spoke about the show and what's coming up next for the singer.

WOW! What a fun show! I love some of the crazy lines that just pop up out of nowhere, like “Phil Collins can be kick ass sometimes!” Rock of Ages definitely lived up to its hype, and I was super fortunate to see this production. This well paced show boasted soooo many strong performances, I hardly know where to begin.

The Nash will continue its outdoor live concerts for its series, Nash Under the Stars at 'Venue 122', the outdoor garden located at 122 E. Culver St. in downtown Phoenix (Arizona Jewish Historical Society).
