Marin Theatre Company's artistic director Jasson Minadakis has announced that Lauren Gunderson's I and You, which premiered at Marin Theatre Company in October with support from the National New Play Network's Continued Life of New Plays Fund, and Martín Zimmerman's Seven Spots on the Sun, which won MTC's 2012 Sky Cooper New American Play Prize and received a public staged reading at MTC in June 2013, have been selected as finalists for the 2014 Harold and Mimi Steinberg/American Theatre Critics Association New Play Award.

Last week, Mill Valley resident Noralee Monestere McKersie became the development director of Marin Theatre Company. Formerly, the associate director of major and special gifts of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and executive director of the Marin Symphony, McKersie assumed her full-time duties at MTC on February 18, 2014.

PROFILE THEATRE has announced the titles for its 2014 In Dialogue Staged Reading Series, a program intended to explore and augment the mainstage season of plays by Sam Shepard. The plays are HUNGRY by Amy Claussen, BUENA VISTA by Edith Freni, and A LIE OF THE MIND by Sam Shepard. Orlando Shakespeare Theater Now Accepting Submissions for 'PlayFest' 2014

Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF is seeking new full-length plays that speak to the human condition in a contemporary world. Topics may range from international headlines to interpersonal relationships, and both comedies and dramas are welcome. Seven of the new works submitted will be selected for readings in the Theater's annual new play festival PlayFest in November 2014, and considered for fully staged productions in future seasons.
