Renaissance Theaterworks will launch its 33rd season with SWITZERLAND by Joanna Murray-Smith, a taut psychological thriller brimming with dark humor and chilling twists.

Get a first look at Paramount Theatre’s production of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.  Before she was the Carole King we know today, she was a young songwriter from Brooklyn trying to make a name for herself. Beautiful tells the inspiring true story of her remarkable rise to stardom with her husband and songwriting partner, Gerry Goffin, and how she went on to become one of the most successful singers, songwriters and musicians in contemporary music history. 

The earth moved. The current production at the Paramount Theatre is Beautiful, the Carole King Musical. This is more than a jukebox musical. It tells the amazing story of one of the greatest songwriters of the 20th century and how her story evolved.

Not so far away is Paramount Theatre’s 2023-24 season finale, the Broadway smash hit Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. Nominated for seven Tony Awards, with two wins, plus a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album, Paramount will pull out all the stops in this season-finale jukebox musical celebration of one our most beloved music icons ever. This reviewer has always been a fan of absurdist theatre, so it was with considerable excitement that she attended the evening's performance, eager to see a premiere that has come a mere 3 years after its workshop reading in 2019 (thanks again, covid). Happily, this reviewer can safely say she was not disappointed. Flood is a truly contemporary take on absurdist theatre written with sharp and fresh relevance.

Pulitzer Prize-nominated playwright Rebecca Gilman will mark her 10th production at Goodman Theatre, her longtime creative home, with Swing State—directed by Tony Award-winner Robert Falls in their 6th collaboration over 35 years. Swing State appears October 7 – November 13 in the 350-seat flexible Owen Theatre.

The Neo-Futurist Theater is proud to host more than 50 Chicago-based activists, artists and leaders to take part of its 24-hour staged reading of the Mueller Report. The report, which is nearly 450 pages, was originally delivered by Special Counsel Robert Mueller on April 18, 2019 and covers subjects ranging from questions about Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election to whether President Donald Trump.

Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF, TheatreUCF, Mad Cow Theatre, and Orlando Repertory Theatre (Theatres) will present two sessions of a workshop with Ms. Laura T. Fisher, a founder of the Chicago Theatre Standards (CTS). Workshops will be held at Loch Haven Park on Friday, March 2, 2018 and at the University of Central Florida campus on Saturday, March 3, 2018.

In the world of unscripted theatre how do you know when you've crossed a line? That is the question that local improv leaders are working hard to answer.

In an effort to do better, and in response to the recent thoughtful discussion that has taken place specifically regarding inappropriate conduct in the North Texas theatre community, Theatre Communications Group (TCG) Member Theatres of North Texas have worked together to convene an Artist Town Hall about developing a theatre code of standards. The Town Hall will be moderated by TheaterJones Editor Mark Lowry, with Laura T. Fisher, Coordinator of Chicago Theatre Standards leading the discussion.
