Set sail across our stage on this swashbuckling Gilbert and Sullivan adventure loaded with enough laughs to fill Davey Jones' locker. It follows the fortunes of Frederic, a young lad who is mistakenly apprenticed to the Pirate King. When Frederic falls for the lovely Mabel, whose father is the very model of a modern Major General, a tempest brews on the sea of love. Matthew Dunster will direct the Globe's first full-scale production of Troilus and Cressida this summer, featuring Olivier Award-winner Matthew Kelly as Pandarus, with Laura Pyper and Paul Stocker as the ill fated lovers Troilus and Cressida. Other casting includes Jamie Ballard as Ulysses and Paul Hunter as Thersites. Set during the latter years of the Trojan War, Shakespeare fills his ancient tale with savage comedy, great passion and vivid characters. (more...)
