The arts scene in Oakland County is about to get a major boost with the grand opening of a new nonprofit, professional theatre in Walled Lake, Michigan. The Inspired Acting Company promises to bring high-quality live performances to the community as it prepares to open its doors to the public.

Clubbed Thumb has announced the complete line-up for the 26th SUMMERWORKS festival of new plays. SUMMERWORKS will run May 18 – July 1, 2023 at The Wild Project.

Ground Floor Theatre has announced the titles for the 2023 season with thought provoking new works and a commissioned musical giving Austin audiences two world premieres and an Austin premiere.

Signature Theatre will present the world premiere of MacArthur Fellow Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’s The Comeuppance, directed by Eric Ting.

The American Theatre Critics Association announced six finalists for the 2023 Harold and Mimi Steinberg/ATCA New Play Award, recognizing the playwrights who produced the best scripts that premiered professionally outside of New York City in 2022.

Coming next month for one night only is a staged reading of the new (bound to be a hit) comedy/horror musical, PSYCHO GYNO. Inspired by shows like Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog, Heathers: The Musical, The Phantom of the Opera, and the Buffy the Vampire Slayer musical episode, the playwright encourages audiences to come for the romance and stay for the blood and gore.

On March 16 at 6pm, at the Jefferson Market Library, the archivist and Caffe Cino actress Magie Dominic, will share documentation and stories about the landmark space and will present the first program devoted to the woman playwrights who produced their work at the Caffe.  

Gatsby, a brand-new musical stage adaptation of the legendary F. Scott Fitzgerald novel, will make its highly anticipated World Premiere at A.R.T. in 2024, and will be directed by Tony Award winner Rachel Chavkin and choreographed by Tony Award winner Sonya Tayeh.

JASMINE STARR-KIDD will have its world premiere on the Hertz Stage at Alliance Theatre March 1 – April 1, 2023.  Opening night is March 8, 2023.

Duende Productions will present the New York Premiere of Emilie; La Marquise du Châtelet Defends Her Life Tonight by Lauren Gunderson at The Flea Theater April 6-30. 

Eric Bogosian’s 1 +1, a new play, will have its off-Broadway premiere at SoHo Playhouse. Performances begin February 23 and run through March 19. Opening night is set for February 27.

Austin Playhouse has announced the cast for the world premiere of Nightbird by R. Eric Thomas and directed by Marcus McQuirter playing March 3–26, 2023.
