The Chelsea Symphony to Continue 11th Season with Vasks English Horn Concerto and SONG OF ZIPPY

On January 28, 2017, at 7:30PM, The Chelsea Symphony will present the continuation of its 11th season, 'Flight Paths,' with a concert featuring the New York premiere of P?teris Vasks' English Horn Concerto and the world premiere of Tim Kiah's Song of Zippy, paired with J. Strauss's Overture to Die Fledermaus, Bartok's Romanian Folk Dances, and Sibelius's Finlandia.

Alan Gilbert to Lead NY Phil in World Premiere of HK Gruber's Piano Concerto, Today

Music Director Alan Gilbert will lead the New York Philharmonic in the World Premiere of HK Gruber's Piano Concerto - a Philharmonic co-commission with the Berlin Philharmonic, Royal Concertgebouw, and Royal Stockholm Philharmonic orchestras - with pianist Emanuel Ax as soloist; Weill's Little Threepenny Music for Wind Orchestra; and Schubert's Symphony No. 2. The performances will take place Today, January 5, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, January 6 at 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday, January 7 at 8:00 p.m.

LA Chamber Orchestra to Present Two Premieres, Violinist Daniel Hope & Vocalist Storm Large

Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, led by Music Director Jeffrey Kahane, presents the US premiere of Kurt Weill's Song-Suite for Violin and Orchestra, arranged by Paul Bateman, and the West Coast Premiere of Bruce Adolphe's Violin Concerto 'I Will Not Remain Silent,' which is dedicated to Rabbi Joachim Prinz and his friendship with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on Saturday, January 21, 8 pm, at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, and Sunday, January 22, 2017, 7 pm, at UCLA's Royce Hall.

New York Philharmonic Presents BELOVED FRIEND - TCHAIKOVSKY AND HIS WORLD, 1/24-2/11

The New York Philharmonic will present Beloved Friend - Tchaikovsky and His World: A Philharmonic Festival, January 24-February 11, 2017, featuring Russian-born Semyon Bychkov conducting works by Tchaikovsky as well as composers he was influenced by and whom he influenced, with piano soloists Yefim Bronfman and Kirill Gerstein.

Cellist Ralph Kirshbaum and Pianist Shai Wosner to Release All-Beethoven Disc, Today

Internationally-renowned cellist Ralph Kirshbaum and pianist Shai Wosner release an all-Beethoven disc on the Onyx Classics label on December 9, 2016.  The duo's album, which was recorded live in London's Wigmore Hall, consists of the complete Beethoven cello sonatas and variations, to be released as a two-disc set.  Last season, Kirshbaum and Wosner performed Beethoven cycles extensively throughout the United States and Europe; the tour culminated with a performance of the complete cycle in London, recorded for Onyx Classics.  Mr. Kirshbaum and Mr. Wosner continue their performances of Beethoven's complete works for cello and piano in March, with a two-concert series at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, followed by a performance with Chamber Music Sedona in Arizona.

Alan Gilbert to Lead NY Phil in Brahms's Symphony No. 3 and Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5; Facebook Live Broadcast 1/14

Music Director Alan Gilbert will lead the New York Philharmonic in Brahms's Symphony No. 3 and Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, Emperor, with Stephen Hough as soloist, Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, January 12 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, January 13 at 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday, January 14 at 8:00 p.m. The January 14 performance will be broadcast on Facebook Live, the Philharmonic's second live concert broadcast on Facebook, following the 2016-17 season Opening Gala Concert. Hosted by WQXR's Terrance McKnight and directed by Habib Azar, the live, online broadcast - available at facebook.com/nyphilharmonic - will also feature live interviews with the evening's artists. The concert will be available for on-demand viewing on the Philharmonic's website, YouTube, and Facebook through August 31, 2017.

Music Director Alan Gilbert will conduct the New York Philharmonic in the World Premiere of Pulitzer Prize winner Wynton Marsalis's The Jungle (Symphony No. 4), commissioned by the Philharmonic as the first of The New York Commissions, with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis; William Bolcom's Trombone Concerto with Principal Trombone Joseph Alessi as soloist; and Copland's Quiet City, featuring Principal Trumpet Christopher Martin and English horn player Grace Shryock in her Philharmonic solo debut.

The Oakland Symphony, Michael Morgan Music Director and conductor, will be joined by guest violinist Kelly Hall-Tompkins - currently on Broadway was as the Fiddler in Fiddler on the Roof -- and members of its acclaimed Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra for Lost Romantic Symphonies Today, November 18, at 8 pm at the Paramount Theatre.

Violist Chi-Chi Lin Bestmann and The Solace Ensemble are the featured artists at Hoff-Barthelson Music School's HB Artist Recital Series on Sunday, December 11, 2016, at 5:00 pm at the Greenville Community Church, 270 Ardsley Road, Scarsdale. The Solace Ensemble, comprised of Bestmann and fellow HBMS faculty members April Johnson, violin; Peter Seidenberg, cello; and Tomoko Uchino, piano, will perform Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Quartet in E flat Major, Op. 16 and Antonin Dvo?ak's expressive Piano Quartet No. 1 in D Major, Op. 23. Metropolitan Opera Soprano Heidi Grant Murphy Performs Solo Recital

Soprano Heidi Grant Murphy, who sang major roles with the Metropolitan Opera for almost 25 years, returns to theChamber Music Society of Detroit series for a recital with pianist Kevin Murphy Sunday, November 13, 2016 at 3:00 PM.  The concert takes place at Oakland University's Varner Recital Hall, located on the Oakland University campus at 2200 N.
